Interview Russia December 2011 : Leonardo DiCaprio by Brigitte Lacombe & Richard Phillips

Please mods add the month in the title, it's December 2011 issue.

It is one thing to appear on the cover of a magazine and quite another to shape its vision from within. The always versatile Naomi Campbell moves into a new role as Editor at Large of the newly launched Interview Russia & the upcoming Interview Germany. Her column will be revealed in the first issue of Interview Russia, set to hit newsstands November 25th. The magazine debuts with a bang, Leonardo Dicaprio on the cover, Aliona Doletskaya at the helm and nearly 300 pages bursting with fresh content from the worlds of art, cinema and of course fashion.

Here’s what Ms. Campbell herself had to say about the experience. “Being an Editor at Large is a new role for me and I’m very happy to be involved with such a prestigious magazine and one that I’ve worked with over the years. I’m looking forward to meeting and interviewing people who are passionate about what they do and learning about their interests, whether it be art, fashion, music or other creative endeavors.”

Bernd Runge, Executive Chairman said: “Naomi is one of the rare personalities who is recognized throughout the world for her tremendous contribution to the fashion and creative world as well as her philanthropic contributions through Fashion For Relief. With her contacts and personality she will give an invaluable support to both editorial teams. I’m very proud that she becomes part of Interview in Berlin and Moscow.”

Oh lord! Seems like it's impossible to mention everything. This issue also has lots of articles dedicated to Warhol. I'd even say that it looks like a tribute to old good Interview under Andy Warhol.

Such a great way to start. The cover is really amazing and the content sound good. I really hope I'll be able to find it in france

I don`t like it. Why him? It`s the Inaugural issue. Some model could have been more perfect! I don`t like the colors, the text and the masthead. I think the new masthead looks more sophisticated than this one.

but the whole point of interview has always been having celebs on the cover cause its more celebrity-oriented.

this cover looks so weird, as already noted in the thread. i cant decide if i love or hate how early 90s it looks

the whole idea of this magazine is a failure: taking interview in english, then translate `em into russian and german (for german version), reprinting material from US analog and then put one fashion editorial photographed and styled and modeled by unknown local contributors...For first launching issue it is 100 % fiasco. I think what Doronin gave Alyona money only upon condition what Naomi will be working here and not sitting at home as a housewife in the reservation on golden mile on Ostojenka...

But how else can you interview Nicola Formichetti or Leo DiCaprio since they don't speak russian? :P I have no problems with the fact that most of the interviews are translated.

But, as you mentioned, this is a launching issue and noone even knows how successful will it be. I think it's quite rational not to invest too much money in a magazine with no guaranteed success.
I hope they will have more their own material when Interview will gain popularity and readership in Russia.

^1st issue is always a promise, and it should promise much more than can be realised actually, it`s a marketing strategy, since it is just start and you should show your advertisers the highest level. and it should be like this for several next issues. Alyona knows it well, as far as we can see in first issues of russian vogue. they were great and bigger than the russian vogue edition basically and for its whole long story.
it`s a bad start, i can see the lack of money, creativity and the whole rough-and-ready thing, not to mention the secondary thing of this magazine. But it is a frequest and main problem in Russia (especially in russian media what doesn`t do news, they just copy-pasting it from 3-4 different sources)
anyhow, it will save space in my house and money for better things...

I know what you mean but... it's Russia we're talking about. This is how things done here
And, once again, it's you who mentioned the lack of creativity in russian media (and that's a fact, I'm not even trying to deny it), so, for russian market, I don't think it's that bad since we don't have here magazines of Vogue Paris caliber, which could've actually produce something instead of copy-pasting, as you said.

But, still, I believe in a future of this magazine as long as Alyona is in charge. I must say she has never been one of those copy-pasters, she has enough brain and talent to pave her own path in this business.

her vogue russia first years were great and 1st russian vogue was so on top (much better than vogue paris same year) and ones again it`s the bad sign for me what 1st issue is so underwhelming. btw, not only editor in chief is the one who decides, actually, who`s paying is the main figure. Alyona is chief, but she`s not owner...

How many Vogues don't do that already?
