Iselin Steiro

^No problem :flower:
And I agree, she seems really nice and down-to-earth.

I just spent over an hour translating the article, so I'll paste the whole thing, even though pyny already did some of it. :)

Hope you don't mind, pyny! :flower:

Please forgive the translation, I haven't had english in school for 6 years.

Here it is;

"A woman with confidence immedeately gets a fantastic emission"

The Norwegian model Iselin Steiro (20) is the designers new favourite. This season she is fronting campaigns for Gucci and Balenciaga.
London 1999. Fourteen year old Iselin is shopping with her family. A scout from a model agency comes over and showers the young girl with superlatives. Could she be interested in a career in modelling? No way!, her mom answers. But the agency does not give up and calls Eivor Øvrebø from Team Models. The girl is a find, they say. Øvrebø takes the first plane to Harstad og immedeately understands what the agency is talking about. Long and thin with an amazing emission. A talent. Iselin's mom is not happy. She is however induced. Seven years later Iselin's face has been seen in everything from the classic fashion magazine Vogue to prestigious W and Pop. She has walked the catwalk for every major fashion house and is fronting Gucci's and Balenciaga's main campaigns this season.

Favourite designers; "I would dress in Prada and Miu Miu anytime. The nicest designer is Nicolas Ghesquière with Balenciaga.

Best styling tip; " Always have a pair of boots, a pair of sneakers and a pair of nice ballerina shoes in your wardrobe. Any outfit is destroyed by ugly shoes.

Does not travel without; dental floss and eyelashcutter.

Must-have in the wardrobe; Big moviestar-sunglasses.

Favourite shops; Collette in Paris, Top Shop in London and Corso Como and Miu Miu in Milan. In New York there are many - Anna Sui, Marc Bu, Marc Jacobs, Flying A and A.P.C. Not to forget all the vintage shops on Lower East Side.

Q - What is the best gig you have ever had?

A - That must have been when I went to Sicilly for French Vogue with photographer Mario Sorrenti. He and the others on the team were super-relaxed and nice, so it was almost like a group of friends going on vacation together. We lived in a really old, dignified house, ate oysters and ?, and got to see real mafia houses. The pictures turned out great and we had the afterparty of all times at the hotel.

Q - What motivates you?

A - To put it this way; I had not managed to do this if I couldn't put some money aside. The worst with this job is all the travelling between timezones, the body never manages to recover when you have constant jet lag. All the uncertainty also does that I can never make plans. When that is said, it is nice to go to exotic places and meet exciting people. New York is not bad, either!

Q - What is the best part about living in New York?

A - There is always something happening, always something to do. People can do whatever they want without getting strange looks.

Q - Do you attend a lot of celebrity parties?

A - No, I hate celebrity parties. At those places I can only have fun if I am with a friend and we stop by for free alcohol and to look at the freakshow, ha ha.

Almost paradise

She describes herself as an energetic child. Loud, almost hyperactiv. Pretty surely very entertaining. At the same time she could sit for hours in the back of the room drawing or reading a copy of Donald Duck. She was far from the prettiest girl in the class. Most models are not. Today, she is regarded as one of the most beatiful in the world. She lives in an aparment in New York, but sometimes longs back to Norway. To the Norwegian nature. To clean water in the tap. To radio and ? (a Norwegian meal).

Q - What is a perfect day for you?

A - To take a walk in the mountains or by the sea. Fishing, maybe. These things are nevertheless limited in New York. I read alot. And I love to go to the movies, I do that alot.

Q - Where do you want to live when you get older?

A - In Norway! One experience I have made when I am travelling, is that we are very fortunate in Norway. The political system, health system, municipal offers - everything works better than Norwegians are seem to understand. We have frest air and clean nature. The crime is low. Newspapers and TV are not censored.

Q - Is Norway paradise?

A - Almost, if you ask me. But Sweden and Danmark works too. And Danish guys are really hot.

About love

Iselin is photographed in everything from evening dresses to bikinies, but she herself enjoys jeans, Converse, tired t-shirts and some nice jewelry. She loves sweaters with hoods. But according to her it is not clothes that determind the appeal of a woman.

Q - How do you define beaty?

A - A woman with confidence immedeately gets a fantastic emission. Is is nice with a good posture and that one dears to "take up room" without being cheeky. Women who smile are beautiful.

Q - Which woman do you admire?

A - My big sister Cecilie. She is the most sensible, kindest og most talented person I know. We have a lot of fun together.

Q - Do you have a boyfriend?

A - No. I am very unexperienced in that area, I must say. When you are travelling all the time it is mot easy to get to know someone. You can always meet people and have a drink, but you never have enough time to find out who is worth keeping in touch with.

Q - What is true love to you?

A - Love is birds and bees, flowers, sea air and ? . When you gladly give away the best piece in the bag of candy and a hug that doesn't lie. To trust each other one hundre percent.

Three about Iselin

Eivor Øvrebø, Team Models

She's a pro, has emission and is happy. I was with her her first weeks in New York and had trouble keeping up with her. She was also very keen to finish school. It didn't matter that both Prada and Calvin Klein wanted her, they had to wait.

Why is Iselin so sought after?

She is amazingly versatile. She is tall and very narrow, therefore she can go from being a tomboy, to a modern version of Rita Hayworth. She is also very "real" and reliable.

Massimo Leardini, photographer

Iselin is trustworthy and dears to give something of herself when she is working. It makes it easier for me as an photographer, when she immedeately understands what I want.

What is the key to Iselin's success?

She has a very special emission, in addition to being a very intelligent and sharp girl. She understands the game of the fashion business and knows that a few years of work can give her an amazing return. Therefore she has a professional attiude towards the profession. In addition I think it has helped that she has had an agency behind her which have really backer her up.

Cecilie Jakobsen Steiro, big sister

She is very fun. A bit absent minded and giggly, but very intelligent. When she was little, she was very active and because she has long arms and legs she fell and hurt herself all the time.

Why do you think she does so well as a model?

It is not just because she is beautiful, but because she is sensible, social, ? and intelligent. Her personality makes her appeal to the right photographers. She is also very kind. Every summer she works at a center for disabled children outside Oslo.

The interview is from the first edition of Costume, a Norwegian magazine.

Thank you for your kind words .. I just wanted to say that I saw, after I had posted the article, that there were a few grammatical errors, but the edit-option dissappears after a few minutes and I was so eager to post it, that i didn't read read trough it properly before I posted. Sorry!

There is also a great head shot of Iselin that goes along with the article, in addition to the Cover, but my scanner is so crappy, that the result was so bad, that I didn't post it. I'll post it when I get my hands on another scanner.

staticglamour - Thank you for those new photos. :)

J'ador-DioR - Thank you, aswell! I love that picture of her face from Marc by Marc Jacobs. :)

Here is the cover from Costume. Please excuse the bad quality, but it's better than nothing at all.

Loved to see her in Costume. It seems like Norwegian magazines are finally noticing her, about time. There's been a couple of articles about her lately.:flower:
