shopping...
for collection and for pleats please...
*i'll leave bao bao for the handbag forum...

recently visited the metropolitan museum of art in nyc...
in conjunction with the 'manus x machina' exhibition, they are selling certain fashion items in their gift shop...

including this scarf from pleats please...
which i tried on and is now f-ing haunting me...

i tried black- which was fine, but then i tried this very pale grey...
and something in my heart snapped...
i almost couldn't take it off...

but i managed to leave it there and go away...
but its ghost is following me around~!!!
:ninja:...

http://store.metmuseum.org/manus-x-...miyake-pleats-please-scarf-gray/invt/80033738

basically-when it is on, it is reminiscent of a medieval "ruff" collar...
and that soft, off white is just brilliant...
*i have something polyester from uniqlo in this same shade of grey---must be something particular to japanese factories...

anyway...
since the issey miyake and the pleats please collections are now stronger than they have been in years...
thought it was about time we had a shopping thread for them...
:woot:

met.org

because it is folded in this image- you cannot see the sheerness and lightness of the fabric...
it practically floats away on it's own...
...

and it has four points on each end...
which give it fantastic movement...

agh!
i'm obsessed...
:blush::P

runner---that's a hat?~

...

a very nice hat, but not a scarf...
...

sorry, that was confusing
"this" refers to the scarf in the link, not the hat.

also I guess your browsing mode is different from mine where the text with the link inserted appears in the contrasting color with underline ?

ah...!!
i see...
sorry i misunderstood...
.........
silly me...

yah- i wonder if i could make the contrast stronger on links cause i always seem to miss it when you do it and only discover the link much later on...
:innocent:...

if i look very closely- it seems like the link is very dark blue, but it's almost black...
very hard to tell the difference...
hmm...

i think that may be the scarf, yes...!!
it is definitely the same shape...
though i guess they do that shape regularly in different fabrics and prints...
it was the first time i saw it in person in the sheer chiffon option, and i just thought the lightweight fabric is so much better than the regular pleats please poly that i am used to...

there is just something transcendent about it...

is pleats please an all-machine washable line? or was that just a myth?

i'm pretty sure they would come out of the washing machine fine-
but some of the newer items are a bit more complex in design, and i would think that would make them more delicate...

i might use a laundry bag to wash them...

well...

i went to the tribeca flagship store and lost myself...
too many lovely and cool things to wear...

...

“132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE”, developed by Issey Miyake and his Reality Lab. team, is both a new label and a new evolution of “A Piece Of Cloth”.
The process by which the clothing is made is groundbreaking, using a mathematical algorithm: first, a variety of three-dimensional shapes are conceived in collaboration with a computer scientist; then, these shapes are folded into two dimensional forms with pre-set cutting lines that determine their finished shape; and finally, they are heat-pressed, to yield folded shirts, skirts, dresses etc. These clothes are significant not only for the process by which they were made but because they are also made using recycled PET products, sometimes in combination with other recycled fibers.
“132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE” is Miyake's new creative challenge based on the ideas of “Regeneration and Re-creation” and a continuation of his perpetual search for new ways by which to make “clothes that bring joy and happiness to wearers”.

i tried on a silver and black tunic from this collection and it is ...
it made me feel like dancing and skipping...
and spinning around with my arms out...
...

issey miyake main line...

these heavy jersey pants are amazing...
they fit sooo well...
i don't like the picture here...
* cannot imagine why you would not shoot them straight on to show the angled hem...
the styling is awful in general...

i was really surprised that i liked some of the cauliflower stuff...

Launched in the Spring / Summer 2001 collection, the concept of ‘me ISSEY MIYAKE’ is to make lightweight, compact, comfortable to wear and easy to care for clothing - fashions crafted to accentuate the pleasure of everyday living. Continuing in its quest to develop materials that are a joy to wear, ‘me ISSEY MIYAKE’ presents clothing in richly varied colors and patterns that are perfectly suited to various scenes throughout the year.

Known as “me ISSEY MIYAKE” within Asia, the collection is sold under the brand name ‘CAULIFLOWER’ in Europe and the United States - a playful reference to one of the major fabric techniques and products within the collection.

just so light and airy...
seems like a dream to wear...
especially on these hot, humid days...

zips at the wrists remind me of vintage and couture, rather than punk...

the theme for PP2018 is "sea". it seems that you'll see the jellyfish-printed shopping bag from august 16.

I really have to do something about this issey miyake obsession that I've developed...
it's getting worse...
I haven't be able to buy any of it because I feel like it can't be just one thing...
it has to be multiple pieces- like one complete look maybe that can then be spread out in the wardrobe and worn with other things...
one piece of issey doesn't make sense somehow.
it's not enough of a statement or something...
I don't now- maybe that's not it...

I haven't figured it out yet...
