Springtime at J. Crew was all about contrasts and closet-raiding. Blazers were slouchy and tailored in the men’s wear tradition, while vintage-inspired jacquards and diaphanous details came out of grandmother’s wardrobe. Likewise for the muted palette of mint greens and nudes — “old-school makeup colors,” as creative director Jenna Lyons called them — that was a soft counterpoint to the label’s signature saturated hues.

Not feeling it this season, which is shame, because last spring the womenswear was absolutely amazing. (And the styling in the catalogs was way better.)

The Ludlow suit shown in the picture looks like the gray flannel version which is in stores now (and my closet). I was hoping to see another unique fabrication. Maybe this one is the reissue of original herringbone gray year round version of the Ludlow (it was apparently pulled due faulty chest piece construction).

oh look at the orange shirt under the green jacket.. flowers necklace or part of the garment? nice

clothes dont seem to fit so well on the model, its kinda distracting (menswear)

Wow, J.Crew really really loves putting a belt over a cardigan, dress, t-shirt, or sweater. It's been their staple style for years.

^I'm kind of sick of that to be honest. Throw a belt on top of everything to me is kind of....done.

I really like J.Crew's F/W 08 collection , this one is looking much more weaker. I do like the Ludlow suit with the Thom Browne inspiration though.

i love the orange shirt too! I too am a bit unwowed by this, as I loved F/W 08.

I agree that the styling looks a bit bulky. That green shirt over the orange shirt is nice, but too big. However, I'm going to have faith that the actual full catalogue will be better since I love what Jenna has been putting out and J.Crew styling in general. I know it's so silly since it's just an old preppy brand, but I've gotten a lot of ideas for dressing from their website, especially for layering bright colors (bright pink and orange anyone?!). I love the chambray shirt, and I like that she's trying to move away from the bright colors towards something new, so hopefully more pics will emerge.

I think the menswear looks great though. I think (from my canadian perspective) the menswear is such a hidden secret.

I was in J Crew today and wasn't terribly into the spring stuff they had out. There was a particularly hideous pair of brocade pants...
