I've been eyeing a J. Crew blazer on ebay, but I don't know what size I should go for.

When I measure myself and look at the size chart on jcrew.com it seems I should be a size 12, but that seems strange since I was mostly a 6 or 8 when I was shopping in the US a few months ago. Are J. Crew sizes smaller than other stores?

My european sized stuff (H&M for example) is mostly 38 in tops.

Any help would be great :flower: That blazer is really nice.. :D

ebay is always risky. I think JCrew sizing runs a little roomy so it may be best to ask the seller to take the measurements you need to know.

I tired that, I asked a seller who has a 6 and another who has an 8. Somehow they both replied with the same measurements. Guess I'll have to ask again...

Roomy, huh.. That's interesting. Sadly someone BIN'ed the size 8 in the color I liked most yesterday, so I have to decide if want a black blazer or stick around and hope another gray one turns up. :ninja:

if its the balenciaga look alike blazer they run slim.

That's the one.

The measurements I got from the sellers are the same as (or even a bit bigger than) two blazers I already have, so I'm figuring that if I get an 8 I'll be fine, since if the measurements were really for the 6, it'll just be a bit roomy

Thanks for your help luckyme :flower:

i think they run slim...
i was considering a grey/white one after the holidays and almost bought a 4 (my normal jacket size) without trying it on...
good thing i did because i couldn't button it...
i normally wear a 2-4 in tops, but a S/4 in jackets...

I don't trust the J.Crew size charts. They're at least one size too big. Ditto with Banana Republic.

I totally agree, I brought a dress and sweater from the website on sale in a 4 and small and they were too big! I have to wear a size 2 or XS in their clothes.

I find their clothes pretty much true to size except when it comes to their coats. for whatever reason i have to go up to an 8 to get a proper fit.

haha it's funny how it fits everyone different. I find their tops fit true to size and in their bottoms i have to size up (but maybe thats because I have a big bum?!)

Their size ,in general, is everywhere. But they are American sizes and very roomy. I can never wear their pants but P0 skirts would work occasionally. I think that they are cut for bigger frames with wider shoulders and shorter waist (not as skinny at waist) women.
Of course it's not how I am built :P

really? I've never found they cut wide shoulders. I also have small shoulders and I've never really found their shoulders to be an issue. But then again, I have to take everything in in the shoulders anyway so maybe I just found it no different than other brands....

I have the Balenciaga look alike from jcrew and I am usually a 2 but I got a size 4 and it fit perfect so I think those jackets run a little snug because of the wool. I would go one size up from your normal size. hope this helps

Ok, I'm hoping it fits quite snug, because there wasn't an 8 or a 10 in sight, so I broke down and got a 12... :ninja:

I guess I can wear it with a sweater under or something. :innocent:
