Unfortunately it had to happen sometime. People always mentioned the subject of his death whenever talking about The Catcher in the Rye and how people will be fighting over movie rights. I wonder how long it will be.
What I really love about the book is that it was not only way ahead of its time, but it also stands the test of time. I read it a few years ago, and I kept looking at the publishing date thinking this book was written in the 80s or something. Seriously. He had other great novels too, it wasn't just about Holden!
Would he have even wanted a movie to be made? I don't think that would be a good idea, there's no way a movie could even come close to being as good as the book.
