All of the Milan photos are reminding me of a fashion question that I have on occassion asked myself, so I though I'd share for some of your well informed views. SS menswear shows often show suit jackets or blazers being worn with shorts, sometimes (a al LV SS04) very short shorts. Personally I think this is plainly a ridiculous look, but my question is, has anyone ever seen anybody in "real life" actually wearing this combination? I never have. It seems to me that if it's ever warm enough to wear shorts, you wouldn't be wanting to wear a formal jacket at the same time.

I have never seen anybody wear that combination. Personally I hate above the knee shorts so I will never look like it either. But I love to wear formal jackets just as a casual wear, but never with shorts of any type.

i dont think i've seen it ever
its a very OLD MAN thing to do if u ask me

shorts with jackets can look COOL.....as below.......but not SUIT jackets

Exactly, old man style....But that attached pic....he looks pregnant in that jacket to me :P

its the pockets
i have a jacket that does that too........its so annoying, you cant wear anything over the top

Woah... suit jackets with shorts? I'll throw up if I ever see someone wearing that.

[Shouldn't this be in Personal Style or Trendspotting??]

Yes, businessmen in Bermuda do that. It's their uniform. Supposingly it's because it's too hot there, but they still need to look somewhat professional. Go figure.

Faust
I remember seeing that in Bermuda!
I think women wear that "uniform" as well, right?

I'm not sure. I saw that on TV, never been to Bermuda myself.

What about pleated culotte type shorts worn with over the knee boots and suit jackets?

i've seen it many times at parties on the water. especially around the great lakes where you have that lake effect cold...guys will be on their boats all day and then at night sit around their decks or whatever with the occassional summer sweater or sometimes nonchalant blazer. it's nothing INTENTIONAL as these shows make it seem. just something that happens.

I think its looks bad - I saw businessmen in Australia wearing similar outfits to work. I think you should take the linen trousers idea to Bermuda Faust!!!
