I have tried it a few times, when I work in shops and stuff. I try to fool people, like starting to speak to them in an American accent. It doesn't always work thoug
Do you have any other secret talents?
I don't know about secret talents. I really like music. I play the bass, and I like to make music on my laptop. Like electronic music, and stuff like that. I'm not very good at it, but I like to be able to transform an idea or a sound into something that works. I love the idea of that. I have doing it for about three years, and love experimenting with it. I must have about 200 incomplete things in my ideabank. I just love being creative with it.
I would like to hear your model story, about how you got into this crazy world.
It all started when I was in Huston working in a mall as the americans like to say, in Abercrombie and Fitch. A local agency scouted me there. Once day New York Models was at my agency and they signed me too, and it all went from there. I loved the idea of going to New York, I always wanted to go! That was a couple of months ago now.
You are brand new! So what have you done so far?
I was only in New York for a few days, but did an editorial and a few tests whilst there. I am now stopping by London, before I head to Milan to as I have an exclusive with Calvin Klein, which is very exciting. I look forward to Milan, I heard that they eat fresh faces up haha. In New York I met a lot of guys that were going to Milan, so it will be great to go there. And there are lots of English lads as well.
What else can you tell us about yourself?
I like the idea of getting along with everyone. I know it sounds cliche, but I think that everyone would be so much happier. Whenever I do something I always think of that person doing the same thing to me. So whatever I do, I try to be the nicest that I can. A smile is nice, it's universal. I love smiling to random people in the street and get a smile back. I see someone walking along with a grumpy face on, and just give em' a nice smile and it's the best thing in the world to have someone smile back at you!
Is that why you were smiling in all your pictures today?
Yeah!
What else should we know about you?
I love to travel. It is a good thing I am in this industry. Going to Asia would be fun, and something I would love to do.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
I would probably say universal. I think I like to go to most places, and try to fit in and get along with everyone. And musical. I really love my music, and eventually, because you know you can't model forever, I eventually want to end up in the music industry. I am in a band in the moment.
Where you play the bass?
Yeah. Its called "The Little White Rabbits".
That is a very cool name. Are you guys any good?
Quite good. We haven't done a lot of shows. But we just do it for friends. I can sing as well. I don't like to say I have a good singing voice, but my mom tells me I have a good singing voice.
Now that you described yourself, have does your mother describe you?
Bone idol.
Bone Idol?
Like, doesn't do work and stuff like that and is lazy. I like to think I used to be like that, but I really pulled my socks up the last few years. I have done well at school, and I eventually want to go up to Manchester University.
Are you planning on coming back to your old country?
Yeah, exactly, that would be fun. But I eventually want to live in America. I think for University, at 18 19 20, England would be great, ecause you can't even drink in the US until you're 21.
How have you enjoyed your Boys by Girls shoot today?
It was fantastic! Yeah. For just staying in the complex of your apartment, I really liked the different environments and stuff like that, especially the rooftop, which was fantastic!
I really like the ideas you have as well. Looking at the growth of teenagers and young men. As for me, moving to America at the age of 13, I've gone through a lot of changes. When I was first there, I had long hair.
Oh wow!
Yeah, very different. And I really felt like I have gone through a journey. Not only just like the journey of going to America, but really going through the journey with my eyes open to the world. Exploring new places, new things, new ideas. Its fantastic! The phrase: Travel abroad as the mind can be, and be more free. Travel even more, and journey even further.
You experienced growing up in the UK till you were 13, and then moved to the U.S. How would you describe the different cultures growing up between the two countries?
It is so completely different. When I first moved to Texas, it is Texas as well, not like California, Washington or New York. It is like Texas, like deep South, and it was a massive shock. When I moved there it was the first time I been to the US, so I had no idea what to expect. And we are from a small northern town in England. Texas is just like you see it in the movies with all the jocks, cheerleaders and high school. It has been a great experience.
How would you describe a typical Texas teenager?
Unfashionable. Not globally aware. Not as open minded as teenagers in larger cities. I love New York, it's very international.
How would you say you stand out in Texas?
I dress very English. You know, skinny jeans, polo shirts and a lot of button up shirts. I quite like standing out and for people to be like "oh, that is Jacob."
