Not So Beautiful

0226_blunt_car_pcn.jpg

During the early morning hours on Saturday, a man seeking an autograph from James Blunt had his foot ran over by the object of his desire. The autograph seeker waited for James to exit a pre-Oscar party at 2am. James and his girlfriend Peta Nemcova quickly drove off running over the dude’s foot. I guess they didn’t know what happened or they didn’t care, because James kept driving off.
When asked about the incident James said, “You seem to know more about it than me!” and he walked away.

 Yeah, who cares if a human being is in the way as long as the stars can just get away fast & "not bothered"

I imagine that it might be hard to tell if you ran over someone's foot, unless the person started screaming or something. So maybe that's why he kept driving. But then again, James was told later on what had happened-- so maybe he really doesn't care. Who knows.

Not that I'm placing all the blame on the fan or anything but I gotta wonder: exactly how close was he standing next to the car? If someone gets into a car and turns the engine on, my common sense tells me to back away.

Yeah, I think the blame is shared here. James obviously wasn't paying close enough attention/didn't care, and this guy was standing waaaaay too close. The article doesn't say he aimed the car and drove towards a fan standing some distance away; from the wording it sounds like the fan was rightupagainst the car, so much so his foot was under it.

Judging from pics of fans or the press clamouring around celebrities' cars, I think that's probably the case. Given that I'm suprised this sort of accident doesn't happen more often?

Do we need further evidence this guy is rubbish? Just listen to his music. I'd have thrown myself under the wheels if i had to listen to it.

I'm thinking this fan will try to sue him...:innocent:
I was thinking that...but I agree with tiffany, it's surprising this kind of thing doesn't happen more often.

Karma for that, and I own his album

This is another reason why I am glad I am not a James Blunt fan. I value my feet, man! :)

His music sucks, agreed. Just to clarify, he's the one who "tries" to sing the "Beautiful" song?

There's no reason to be that close to someone's car that you get your toes ran over. The article tried to make it sound like the man was patiently waiting outside, when in actuality for the incident to occur as the article stated, he woulda had to been pressed up against the car.

What did he think was gonna happen? Stick his foot out so JB wouldn't drive away without signging his autograph?

JB is not cute either...Petra is so breathtaking too. I guess they even each other out?

Damage Control Alert!

Rep: James Blunt Avoiding Paparazzi During Accident

(Nemcova and Blunt)

James Blunt's rep tells PEOPLE the pop singer was trying to steer his car through a crowd of paparazzi outside a pre-Oscar party at the time police say a man's foot was run over.

Blunt, however, doesn't concede hitting the man, the rep said Monday. Los Angeles police have said only that Blunt was "involved" in an injury car accident.

"It wasn't a fan," the rep says. "It was a ton of paparazzi that were all swarming his car as he was driving 2 mph trying to navigate his way through them. That's the first and foremost. They were invading his space. He was just trying to quietly leave the party."

Los Angeles Police were called to the scene outside the home of CAA agent Bryan Lourd at 1:58 a.m. Saturday. Lourd's annual bash is a magnet for A-list celebrities. This year's attendees included George Clooney, Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise and Madonna.

Police did not identify the injured man or characterize what he was doing. But in photos shot by Josephine Santos of Pacific Coast News, the man is seen with a camera around his neck and a blank tablet of paper.

"Suddenly James Blunt pulled out," recalls Santos. "I was across the street. I looked over and the guy was flat on his back. I was totally frightened. I thought maybe that he got flattened by the car. I thought he was fully run over. It was horrifying. It turns out that he started to get up slowly. His right lower leg near his foot was run over."

Santos says autograph seekers and photographers called out, "Hey, stop! You just hit somebody!" to the "Beautiful" singer and his passenger, girlfriend Petra Nemcova, but they drove on.

Paramedics tended to the man's injuries and transported him from the scene, Santos says. Police also interviewed witnesses.

Although Santos says the man appeared to be in pain, "I saw him the next day. He was walking around with a limp. He was at Ago, on La Cienega and Melrose. There was some sort of pre-Oscar party."

^ Hmmm...

LMAO!!!

Oh my God... I'm at lost for words(and not in the good way).

this is what happens when papparazzi are literally in front of the wheels of a car...

what the rep said is so wrong in my opinion, just because it might be a paparazzi means that James & Petra shouldn't be worried about run over that person :(

what a nice mentality...

No matter what the circumstances were of the accident, you can not just drive away after hitting someone. Normal people would not be able to get away with that, so James Blunt shouldn't be able to either.

Blunt is a living example of rhyming slang but give him a break. I've had my foot run-over dozens of times, it doesn't really hurt... And if it was more than a foot, if it was the guy's leg, how the hell did he manage to get his leg under the car in the first place?

Absurd.

You getting your foot run over isn't funny, but the rest of your post is!
