Quick History: Though this is Haen’s first time in the U.S., the Netherlands native walked previously in Paris during menswear. Plus, this beautiful boy’s bone structure rivaled that of any female model backstage. Despite taking to the runway alongside seasoned pros like Liya Kebede and Jamie Bochert, he was cool, calm, and collected.

Are you the first boy to ever walk Proenza Schouler?

That’s right.

That must feel like quite the honor.

I’m very, very, very excited!

Why do you think they cast you?

I had a shoot for C☆NDY magazine and they cut my hair. And from the day that I cut my hair, it all started. I have this androgynous face with the short hair, so it sort of works. And Ashley [Brokaw], who cast me, said, “Perfect. Perfect for Proenza.”

That’s kind of a huge deal.

I think so, yeah. It’s crazy, but I like it. The people are very nice and they take care of me, which is good.

Are you nervous to walk the runway?

I think a bit of nerves is always good.

There are quite a few fierce girls in this cast. How is your walk going to match up?

[whispers] They said it was the most perfect walk.

Where did you learn your tricks?

I’ve seen a lot of fashion shows on YouTube. I’ve followed the fashion and modeling industries since I was a little boy. I like fashion and I love to walk.

Have you been practicing in your hotel room?

I’ve been practicing since I was a little kid! I copied the Russian walk and the American walk and the Gisele Bündchen walk—I know how to walk!

How do you feel being the only man among all these women?

Special. The girls are very nice to me and everyone’s like, “Who is that?” So they’re interested in me and I’m interested [in them], as well.

Have you stolen any beauty tricks from the girls backstage?

Girls have different skin, so I’m just trying to drink a lot of water, sleep well, and stay away from everything bad…for now.

How do you like the eye makeup?

I love this!

Do you ever wear makeup off-duty?

This is an exception for the show.

Are you excited about what you’re wearing in the show?

I’m wearing a lot of black and heels.

How is it balancing in the shoes?

I can walk in 6-inch heels. I’m totally ready, honey.
