I am not a big fan of Julia, but it's undeniable that she's the perfect fit for Jil Sander. The shots of her standing are far more appealing than the close-ups, if you ask me.

But that statement is ludicrous. First of all, one model doesn't define a whole decade. And secondly, even if one model did it would never be this girl. She's not a star. She could leave now and nobody would notice. She's beyond talentless or unremarkable. Yes, she somehow books a lot of campaigns and yes she walks a lot of shows, mostly unnoticed, but she's far from a star.

About this campaign. Willy will always be the best for Jil Sander. Others have tried but failed. Only he can capture the spirit of the brand.

If I try to remember a model from the 10's she's the first one that comes to my mind to be honest. She's sort of a Raquel Zimmermann of this era, like her or not (as I said I'm totally indifferent about her). She has done absolutely everything. And I think talent is not important when discussing these kind of things. Kendall or Cara are talentless for me and they will be remember as 'icons' of this decade. Julia's been a staple to fashion and she defines the mood and the asthetic of these past years: Beyond pale, not traditionally beautiful, blond, the type of body (that we can't discuss here), the bored attitude... She's been a favourite of Hedi, Phoebe, Raf, Prada, Jil Sander's designers, Meisel, and even Ghesquière... All the names that have defined fashion these past years. I can't even think of a campaign of a brand she didn't get (just Chanel).

In my opinion Julia is truely the best model of the moment. She's like Saskia, Freja, Lara, Edie, Karen, Stam, Elise and many others were in the past. Just doing her job and doing it very well. Maybe she has not have a intagram account but she has a talent. And a talent defends himself.

She got to have the mood for the moment to book trunkload of work. There's no question needed. If these insiders pick her for various reasons, to focus on clothes, to keep a cool tone etc, they all refer to a quality a look is potential for, which comes to an end, is the look that matches the current mood.

By the way, Raquel wasn't the ultimate choice in the early 2000s. Now look how many kids join the party after 2007 get excited by her being everytime.

The black and white pictures should have been in color. You had that amazing pink dress and you barley highlight it with a beauty closeup? I find the closeups strange, especially how she looks exactly the same in all of them.

In terms of her beauty closeup:

1. She Stood in the same position while the assistants swapped out her clothing.
2. Her face was photoshopped on.
3. The clothes were photoshopped on.
4. The clothes and the face were photoshopped on.

They look like siblings! Much rather prefer the b&w shots, but it's overall very cold. I suppose it will provide the right variety next to Gucci's adventurous Japan effort.
