Jil Sander S/S 2007 : Johanna J, Johanna S & Clement by Willy Vanderperre

jil sander ads just always disappoint me, when will they not look so boring??

I like the wa it is though. I don't find it to be boring... more art... I love how they're always so simple and minimalistic!

It looks just like a coloured version of last season's ad

That's exactly what I was saying. It was nice the first time but it makes me think they don't have new ideas for the brand.

Maybe it's a little too close to last season, but it worked wonderfully then and I think having a slight variation reflects Raf's controled direction rather than a lack of ideas. I like how the yellow serves to remind people of the show/other pieces without hitting you over the head. They could've easily used a rainbow of vivid colors, but that could divert people's attention from the lines/shapes. That'd probably be more of a crowd pleaser, but out of step with with the aesthetic.

I'd be curious to see what other pieces are featured in subsequent ads. It was my understanding that the sequin pieces are couture priced and will basically be just special orders. Maybe they'll focus on more ready to wear pieces once people are in the mood for spring buying.

I agree with you. I believe the blouse is around $800 whereas the skirt is more like $4,000..so it'll be interesting to see what they do with other pieces from the collection. Though this, to me, is certainly one of the most beautiful.

I'ts such a sad add the body of the model looks so weird and the pose maby its just the clothes.weird cause i like his designs

It's fine line between beautiful minimalism and what is only boring. I don't know which side this is on yet..

Thanks!

Another thing.. I think bleak colors (in first ad) and grey background comes out very bad in scans. So these probably look better in reality.
