Johnny Depp

Thanks for the pics, Lydia. :flower:
He looks gorgeous there! Are those recent pics?

BTW, the last pic doesn't work for me..:o

 Why didn't Johnny show up to the Golden Globes this year??? Was he busy or do you think he knew he wasn't going to win in the Best Actor Musical or Comedy category? I was soooo looking forward to seeing him and his gorgeous Vanessa! I always love her in Chanel...

I know. I always tune in just to see Johnny and Vanessa. Such a cute couple, and Vanessa wears Chanel on the red carpet like no other. She always stands out from the Hollywood pack.

I like seeing him out and about on the red carpet, and he always gives good interviews. He's one of the few celebs that'll give a dumb*** question the answer it deserves.

Anyway, too bad he didn't show.

I'd like to ask you fans a question, am I the only one who loved him in the Libertine? I have seen so many people comment that they didn't like that movie, but I loved it. I was so wrapped up in his character; I felt like I wasn't watching an actor act (if you know what I mean). I did think his character was disgusting, but I thought his performance was incredible, and if it was possible to love that despicable character...I did. I just wanted to save him from his own self!

Anyway, I thought it deserved some recognition, like a Golden Globe nom or something....Hollywood seems like it "shies away" from these risky projects, no?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts...:flower:

I thought he was fantastic as always in the Libertine! He did a good job, it was a very dark role and I enjoyed it. I was suprised it didn't get any recognition either, sure it wasn't a perfect movie but neither are many of the other movies they applaud these days anyways!

I also thought it was a great performance. Sure he was gross, and the movie had flaws as mentioned but it was a good role. I'm not sure if it's a matter of Hollywood shying away from the role, because they do like actors who mess themselves up/ portray disgusting people (see Theron, C.), but maybe it's a matter of audiences shying away from the film itself. It seems it can be hard to make people watch a dark tale, with unlikeable characters, especially if there is no 'redemption' at the end.

I loved The Libertine, I felt so much for his character's self-loathing. It was a fantastic performance that'll make me weepy provided I've had enough drink. It probably didn't get any noms because there were no sparkling gowns or music numbers in it. I still maintain Chicago was a piece of shite and I doubt dream girls is any better. :yuk:

It's not the first time Johnny's been blatanly snubbed and it won't be the last. He's an outsider in hollyweird, doesn't kiss enough *** or go to enough boring parties or fashion weeks so he gets very little nodding on behalf of them.

AXE MAN

Johnny Depp reconnects with his musical roots, reuniting for a charity event on Sunday with his rock band the Kids at the Cinema Club in Pompano Beach, Fla. The concert was played in memory of Sheila Witkin, a major figure in South Florida's rock-and-roll scene. But don't expect to see Johnny heading out on the road: The gig was a one-night stand.
