Johnny Depp: How 'terrific' Great Ormond Street saved my Lily-Rose
Johnny Depp has revealed his enormous gratitude to Great Ormond Street Hospital for saving his young daughter's life. Critically ill Lily-Rose was taken to the Central London children's hospital in March, reportedly suffering from kidney failure caused by E.coli food poisoning.
The crisis came as the star was filming at Pinewood Studios.
Relief: Depp, in a scene from the new Pirates movie, spent nine days at his daugher's bedside
Johnny and long-term girlfriend Vanessa Paradis kept a constant vigil at their daughter's bedside for nine days until the seven-year-old finally recovered.
In an exclusive interview in The Mail on Sunday's Live magazine today, Johnny reveals: "It was the most frightening thing we have ever been through. It was hell for all of us.
"But the magic is that she pulled through beautifully. She was amazing - a strong, strong kid. Great Ormond Street was terrific; such a great hospital."
The 43-year-old Hollywood actor admits to shedding a few tears after finishing his last scenes as the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow for the final part in the Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy, At World's End, to be released on Friday.
"I didn't want to say goodbye," the star reveals. "It wasn't hysterical sobbing, but it goes deep into your body and into your soul.
"Captain Jack has brought a lot of good things into my world. I'll always hold him in very high regard."
Depp also described his joy at working with his hero - and the inspiration behind his drunkenly swaggering, eyeliner-wearing Captain Jack - Rolling Stone Keith Richards, who makes a cameo appearance in the film as Jack Sparrow's father.
"Keith was just so cool," he says. "A terrific guy to hang out with."
And although the phenomenally successful trilogy is complete, Johnny reveals that he cannot rule out making a fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean. "If I were approached to play Captain Jack again, under the right circumstances I would give it serious thought," he admits.

Johnny always wears the weirdest outfits. I have this theory that he does it to make himself look less attractive to the fan girls. Which will never happen!

Maybe so, but then again he's just quirky, which makes him different than other Hollywood leading men. Speaking of his outfit, I for one don't like the blue shades.

I love Johnny, I adore him, but his way to dress for public appearances is simply dreadful.
Too much of this and that, I would much rather see him in simple and well tailored clothes. Or even in jeans and a white or black tee shirt.
I mean, he can carry all that and a christmas tree on his head and still look yummy. But even if I´m a super hardcore fan of his, I gotta admit that I don´t like his clothes, hats, pendants, rings, and all the other things he wears.
