What is it like to have your makeup done by Pat McGrath? This is the question that prompted a few hundred stylists, models, reality stars, and Parisiennes to swarm the Tuileries this afternoon after the artist announced on Instagram that she would be performing free makeovers in the garden. Exceeding expectations, McGrath and her entourage of assistants executed Fashion Week’s most daring beauty alchemy off the runway yet: adorning each passerby with a touch of gold.

Using her new pigment, Gold 001, a dramatic arc was pressed onto the eyelids of Daria Strokous, a generous slash brightened the gaze of Bella Hadid, Vera Derrida received gilded brows, and Riley Montana enjoyed three glittering drifts: two aligned with her pupils and one along her cupid’s bow. Throughout the two-hour surprise gathering, cat-eyes were compared, selfies were snapped, and hugs were exchanged before each participant strode off into the city’s sunset with their new luminous accents.
