A nice article about Julia today on Vogue.com :
Julia Nobis, the Accidental Supermodel
by Janelle Okwodu
In the six years since her modeling debut, Julia Nobis has quietly become the industry MVP. Her face—austere and boldly beautiful—is familiar even to those who don’t yet know her name, and she’s done it all (every major runway, countless advertisements, and magazine covers) without the help of Instagram, Snapchat, or a famous last name. New York Fashion Week has just begun, but Nobis is already in full swing, appearing at Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Jason Wu, and Alexander Wang. “I’m running full steam, but as long as you look like you’re energized, that’s the important thing,” said Nobis, backstage last night at Pier 94 for Alexander Wang’s show. “It’s only the second day for me, though—plenty more ahead.”
If the hectic demands of the industry weren’t enough to keep her busy, Nobis is also working toward a Bachelor of Science and Applied Science at Melbourne’s RMIT, with the goal of eventually becoming an emergency-care doctor. “It’s rough, but it’s also fulfilling,” said Nobis, “and that’s the important thing.” With graduation on the horizon—she gets her diploma in October—Nobis has found herself in a situation not unfamiliar to most college grads (despite the fact that she occasionally appears on billboards

Real life beckons, but what’s the rush? “It’s been five years of studying, which is great, but I also don’t know what I’m going to do without it,” she said. “I have a few papers to wrap up, and some tests. I took the Australian equivalent of the MCATs, but I’m going to wait a year and then apply, try to take some time off.”
But fashion isn’t quite finished with Nobis yet; with a fully booked NYFW, a spot in the latest Prada campaign, and new work with Willy Vanderperre and Steven Meisel, her momentum continues to build. Though by all accounts she’s become a supermodel almost by accident, she’s established herself as an industry force to be reckoned with. Her skill in front of the camera is unquestionable, and her outside interests—science, piano, and an abiding love of Rage Against the Machine—add to her appeal, rather than detract from it. And for now, modeling might not pack the same intellectual punch as biochemistry, but it’s still something she respects for all its contradictions. “[Walking a fashion show] is harder than it looks . . . it’s not rocket science,” said Nobis, “I think this can be said about just about anything, but don’t judge a book by its cover.”
