JULIA NOBIS AND ANDREJ PEJIC FOR SUPERFINE
BAZAAR spoke to Superfine designer Lucy Pinter about her latest collection - a stylish lesson in androgyny - and chat about tapping two of Australia's models-of-the-moment Andrej Pejic and Julia Nobis as a perfect fit for this boy-meets-girl collection.
Harper's BAZAAR: What inspired this S/S12 collection?
Lucy Pinter: "Girls wearing their boyfriend clothes. David Bowie and the idea of beauty being sexless."
HB: Your latest collection embraces androgyny, is this a departure from your rock & roll heritage?
LP: "Not at all. Androgyny is very rock'n'roll. I'm a big fan of androgynous rock stars! David Bowie in his heyday being the obvious one but even now I think people like Bobby Gillespie are androgynous. Mick Jagger too - so pretty but also such a guy at the same time."
HB: Your choice of models (Andrej Pejic and Julia Nobis) are a perfect fit.
LP: "When we were casting, Andrej was an obvious choice and then we saw Julia. A gorgeous girl who could be a skater guy! We love her."
HB: What type of girl do you visualise wearing your clothes?
LP: "Strong, sexy, sure of herself. Someone who likes fashion and appreciates detail."
HB: What's next for Superfine?
LP: "Carrying on. I'm still working on launching a children's line. Soon I hope I hope, watch this space."
