Topmodels mit Flügeln

Auch Engel können manchmal ins Straucheln kommen – zumindest wenn sie für «Victoria´s Secret» arbeiten. Mit meterhohen Flügeln schickt der US-Dessoushersteller jährlich eine Auswahl der schönsten Frauen der Welt – die sogenannten Angels – auf den Laufsteg. Leicht ist es dabei nicht, das Gleichgewicht zu halten und auch noch sexy auszusehen, wie Topmodel Julia Stegner berichtet. Sie bekam im vergangenen Jahr ein kiloschweres Spinnennetz aus Stahl auf den Rücken geschnallt. «Da habe ich schon kämpfen müssen», sagt die 25-Jährige im ddp-Gespräch. Am Donnerstag findet die Modenschau, die die Organisatoren als die meistgesehene der Welt preisen, wieder in New York statt.

In 90 Ländern wird die Aufzeichnung ausgestrahlt. Stegner ist bereits zum fünften Mal dabei. Auch für Heidi Klum ist die »Victoria´s Secret Fashion Show«, bei der für US-Verhältnisse sehr viel Haut gezeigt wird, ein fixer Termin. 2005 stand sie nur acht Wochen nach der Geburt ihres Sohnes Henry wieder in Glitzer-Dessous auf dem Laufsteg. Diesmal – sechs Wochen nach der Geburt ihres vierten Kindes Lou – hat sie eine andere Funktion: Sie wird die Show moderieren.

Die Schwangerschaftsrate seiner Models dürfte dem Chef des Unternehmens, Ed Razek, in diesem Jahr ein wenig zu schaffen gemacht haben: Nicht nur Klum fällt für den Laufsteg aus. Auch Karolina Kurkova erwartet ein Kind, und Adriana Lima ist erst am Sonntag Mutter einer kleinen Tochter geworden. »Sie müssen wirklich große Mädchen ersetzen«, sagt Louisa von Minckwitz, Entdeckerin von Stegner und Inhaberin der Agentur Louisa Models.

Bislang habe die Modenschau vor allem ausgezeichnet, dass sie immer mit der »kompletten Riege« der gerade angesagten Topmodels aufgewartet habe. Für diese sei es »eine Prestigesache», dabei zu sein. Auch Stegner nennt die Teilnahme das «i-Tüpfelchen» für ihre Karriere. Zwar war sie schon vor 2005 bei den Modenschauen in Paris und Mailand für die großen Designer gelaufen. Aber: «Nicht jeder schaut sich das italienische ´Vogue´-Cover an, aber jeder weiß, wer bei ´Victoria´s Secret´ mitläuft», sagt sie.

Es ist eine sehr amerikanische Mischung aus Popkonzert und glitzerbunter Entertainment-Inszenierung. Mal schweben die Engel durch die Luft, mal steht der Laufsteg unter Wasser, mal sind die Models mit Weihnachtskugeln oder Schleifen dekoriert – und mitten drin sorgt seit Jahren ein Star aus dem Popgeschäft für Stimmung. Diesmal haben die Black Eyed Peas ihr Kommen zugesagt. Promis wie Lenny Kravitz oder «Desperate Housewives»-Star Kyle MacLachlan saßen 2008 in der ersten Reihe, als die Engel Küsse warfen und die Zuschauer zum Jubeln anfeuerten.

Typisch amerikanisch ist aber auch das: Jedes Jahr werden zwei Durchgänge aufgezeichnet. Die erste mit Freunden und Familien im Publikum, die zweite mit den Stargästen, wie Stegner berichtet. «Ich nehme an, für den Fall, dass irgendwo mal was rausrutscht – weil es im Fernsehen gezeigt wird und weil es ja auch Amerika ist.«

Wenig Gefallen fand die Modenschau, die vor 14 Jahren erstmals stattfand, nämlich bei konservativen Organisationen und Frauenbewegungen in den USA. 2001, als die Veranstaltung ihr TV-Debüt feierte, gingen Hunderte Protest-E-Mails bei Medienwächtern ein. 2004, als der «Nipplegate»-Skandal um den freigelegten Busen von Janet Jackson während der Superbowl-Übertragung eine Welle der Empörung auslöste, lies «Victoria´s Secret» die Schau vorsorglich selbst ausfallen.

Stegner kann Kritik nicht verstehen: »Wir werden zu nichts gezwungen, wir zeigen alle freiwillig unsere Körper und wir finden das natürlich auch schön, wenn wir angehimmelt werden.« Ein Zusammenschnitt der beiden Durchgänge wird in den USA am 1. Dezember bei CBS ausgestrahlt, in Deutschland am 10. Dezember (23.15 Uhr) bei ProSieben.

Eine besondere Ehre wird diesmal Model Marisa Miller zuteil: Sie darf das teuerste Stück tragen: Den »Fantasie-BH«, an dem ein 16-Karat-Diamant in Herzform baumelt. Wert: drei Millionen Dollar. Stegner hat als Vorbereitung auf die Show ausnahmsweise sieben und nicht nur fünf Mal die Woche mit ihrem Fitnesscoach trainiert.

Das Lampenfieber dürfte aber vor allem bei einer anderen jungen Dame groß werden: Der Wäschehersteller schickt neben Starmodels wie Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr und Doutzen Kroes erstmals ein Nachwuchsmannequin ins Rennen, das über einen landesweiten Castingwettbewerb ermittelt wurde.

»Victoria´s Secret´s Next Angel« wurde gesucht. In der Nacht zum Mittwoch sollte die Internet-Abstimmung enden. Vor einigen Wochen noch hatten Hunderte Mädchen in New York Schlange gestanden und ihren großen Traum im Chor gerufen: »Ich will ein Engel werden!»
