It's amazing it was left to a gringo, from NY, USA, of mixed Eastern European origin, who speaks Spanish badly, to start this thread for the beautiful and gifted Mexican singer/songwriter Julieta Venegas - (La Princesa de Tijuana - La Princesa de Pop). She's quite popular south of the border (as we say here up north in Gringolandia), and she certainly deserves to be a star here too. Starting out at about the age of five, she plays the accordion, piano, acoustic guitar and the 'cello (yes, the 'cello, as she studied classical music in college), and also sings and wries many of her own songs. So far she's made three CDs over the space of about ten years:
Aquí,
Bueninvento,
Sí,
Limón y Sal
They are all stupendous! Who'd ever thought a girl with bushy eyebrows and an accordion could rock like this! And she sells just her music - not her body (even though she is beautiful). Unlike so many other Latina Divas, she is always dressed rather conservatively - not just in her underware - no bouncing boobs or girating hips here.
Here are my scans of Sept 2006 ELLE (Mex
Julieta cover and editorial. Several versions of some pages. Click on thumbnails for HQ images.
