It's amazing it was left to a gringo, from NY, USA, of mixed Eastern European origin, who speaks Spanish badly, to start this thread for the beautiful and gifted Mexican singer/songwriter Julieta Venegas - (La Princesa de Tijuana - La Princesa de Pop). She's quite popular south of the border (as we say here up north in Gringolandia), and she certainly deserves to be a star here too. Starting out at about the age of five, she plays the accordion, piano, acoustic guitar and the 'cello (yes, the 'cello, as she studied classical music in college), and also sings and wries many of her own songs. So far she's made three CDs over the space of about ten years:
Aquí,
Bueninvento,
Sí,
Limón y Sal
They are all stupendous! Who'd ever thought a girl with bushy eyebrows and an accordion could rock like this! And she sells just her music - not her body (even though she is beautiful). Unlike so many other Latina Divas, she is always dressed rather conservatively - not just in her underware - no bouncing boobs or girating hips here.
Here are my scans of Sept 2006 ELLE (Mex): Julieta cover and editorial. Several versions of some pages. Click on thumbnails for HQ images.

My scans from the 24 November 2006 QUIÉN (Mexico) - cover and a complete article (sorry, in Spanish) about Julieta's life and career so far. Click on thumbnails for HQ images (several versions of some scans).
The cover says: The Other Julieta - Studied with nuns, overcame a divorce, and, at 36, awaits her Romeo.

She won the Latin Grammy in 2006 in the category of Musica Alternativa for her fourth disc Limón y Sal.

Sorry I couldn't stitch this ^^^ two page spread together properly.
"At 36, the child of rock, who studied with the nuns and overcame a divorce, is open to Love!"

^^^"She was already past 30 when she discoverd her body and her seusuality - and blossomed."

My scans from the 24 November 2006 QUIÉN (Mexico) - continued - a complete article (only in Spanish) about Julieta's life and career so far. Click on thumbnails for HQ images (several versions of some scans).

"The rules imposed by her parents included that she could only go to twelve parties a year ... and only one in a month."

Nice publicity photo ^^^ for Limón y Sal.

"Her father would like her married, with children, and to never leave Tijuana."

Nice photos ^^^ of la pequiña Julieta, her mama, and identical twin sister Yvonne.

"Her Most Recent Romance: in 2005 she was going with Jorge Villamizar, singer with the group Bacilos.

"Posessor of a beauty that she herself has defined as 'antigua' (antique, classical?), she is surprised that in Europe they compare her physically to Frida Kahlo."

^^^ Another nice publicity shot for Limón y Sal.

Limón y Sal from Limón y Sal. Julieta, as Little Red Riding Hood, in love with a werewolf! She faints with fright when, with the full moon, the wolfman turns into a handsome guy! Done in the style of a sepia-tinted silent film - and certainly with a tip of the hat to Cocteau's surreal masterpiece La belle et la bete, too!
From You-Tube.
Julieta Venegas - Limón y Sal

Her biggest hit so far: Me Voy from Limón y Sal. Julieta packes up her accordion and leaves her good-for-nothing boyfriend and takes off in a hot air balloon.

Once again wrong! Make that FIVE:
Lo Mejor: Grandes Exitos
This last is just a compliation of hits from the previous four. And, soon to come out: Cosas Raras: previously unreleased songs she did for soundtracks (Amores Perros, Maria Full of Grace), etc.

From her third disc - the song Lento. That's her twin sister Yvonne in the video. Wherever they walk flowers start springing up. And I love their outfits: green tops, white skirts, black stockings and white pumps - totally cute:flower:
From You-Tube:

"If you'd like a little bit of me then you'll have to wait...give me some time to give you all that I have."

Also from her third disc Sí (2003) - the song Andar Conmigo, a really beautiful song done in the style of an old-fashioned ranchero. Julieta makes a beautiful, sexy bride in that wedding dress.

"There's so much I would like to tell you, there's so much I'd like to know about you.. there are so many roads... tell me if you would like to go with me."

From her first disc Aquí (1997) - the song De Mis Pasos. She was rocking a whole lot harder back then - and she was into more of a goth look: severely straightened hair, strikingly white skin and a nose ring.
