A tightly connected artist told us yesterday that Karen Elson is ill and exhausted, in that way women sometimes get, and so she's staying in LA for Fashion Week.
If true, or even partly true, that means there's a cameo spot open at the front of Marc Jacobs' show on Monday. Whether the slot will be filled by the next It Model (like Ikeleine Stange last season) or instead by Dita Von Teese, as the popular speculation goes... well, we have no idea.
The absence of Karen also means The Citizen's Band performance at Edun's fashion show could get strange: Citizen's lead singer Sarah Sophie Flicker might also skip because she's eight months pregnant. That leaves honorary member Zooey Deschanel in the spotlight - funny, since she's also singing today at the Erin Fetherston show (where Kirsten should be watching).
So: feel better Karen, break a leg Zooey, and one more to throw at you if you're bored: exactly what band is playing at APC's quietly anticipated concert this Monday night?

She can't be in LA if she was spotted at the Proenza Schouler Target opening in NYC on February 2nd. It would be stupid of her to fly back to LA if she was ill.

Maybe somebody just thought it was her. "Hey, it's a redhead, must be karen elson."

I hope it's untrue because she's the best thing about Marc's shows. She makes his clothes look so wearable.

I think Karen would be pretty easy to recognize. She's quite striking.

After reading other reports from the opening I've concluded that Radar online mistook a tall redhead for Karen probably Judith Bedard. The report on style.com didn't even mention Karen being there and they mentioned Karolina Kurkova and Margherita Missoni, so they definitely would've mentioned her too. A google search showed that Radar online was the only site to mention Karen, so yeah it was most likely a mistake.

^No, she's saying that radar made a mistake when they said that Karen was at Opening Ceremony. She probably isn't in NY.
