I can't keep up with you, Rado. Again, that's wonderful!

#3802 I haven't seen the b&w photos. It's great that two different styles of pics are in a book - one is colored and oil painting looking, another is simply b&w.

Thank you so much for the pics and please check the message I sent to you. :flower:;)

I didn't expect her to be. I think the Citizen's Band means more to her than fashion shows, so I didn't think she'd show up for fashion week since she skipped those shows.

I've repeated this again and again but I really miss the old days when I could see her in every show in NY, Paris and Milan. *sigh*
I respect all the things she does but, frankly, I love her more as a model. Of course I understand it's time for her to leave runway but she is essential and irresplaceable. Now I realized how happy it was to be able to see her in even a few shows last season.

I think she still loves doing shows and her editorial work in the past couple of years has been some of her best yet. Karen will probably stick around in the fashion biz as long as she is in demand. I do think the Citizen's Band is something that is more meaningful to her though and the fact that she missed those shows this week tells me it was probably something important that kept her away. I think she definitely would have participated in fashion week if she had not had any conflicts. Since 2005, all the fashion weeks and Citizen's Band shows she did not attend were due to pregnancy. I'm not saying that's the reason. Just throwing it out there.

I remember seeing Karen Elson in her first years as a model in fashion shows and it was very funny to see her walk...she can not walk at all;) We laughed at her and called her the tree:) And she was falling a few times, tripping all the time;)) I never considered her a good runway model, but she became better and better, just like Jaquetta Wheeler(god, she was laughable on the runways at first)...many models have awful walks, but sooner or later they improve a little;)) I guess it is important what editorial and advertising work they have in order to be in the major shows,too...and Karen is deffinately one of those;))
She did so many shows, so watching the old stuff is still cool!
I will start digitalising my video collection and I will share lots of shows with Karen in them;))

^ If I had been there I would have thought she was so cute doing that. I am blind!
You're lucky to have seen her walk in early days.^_^

The vogue for employing models with a little more substance than a gaggle of skinny teenagers – which has seen Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer feature in a slew of luxury fashion labels’ fall ad campaigns - has now found its way to British retail stalwart John Lewis.

The department store – which is best known as a go-to for home furnishings in the U.K. – has tapped Karen Elson as the face of its fall 2008 fashion campaign. “Karen was the perfect choice for us,” said Craig Inglis, head of brand communications at John Lewis. “She’s iconic, a mother of two and a woman who in her personal life doesn’t live for fashion but enjoys great clothes.”

The campaign has been shot by Phil Poynter and pictures Elson in John Lewis’ fall collections against a backdrop of child-like illustrations of street scenes. It will break in glossy U.K. newspaper supplements this weekend and will appear in the November issues of magazines including U.K. Vogue, Elle and InStyle. The $2.6 million campaign is designed to mark the retailer’s renewed efforts to push its fashion department, which carries brands including Jaeger London, BCBG, Whistles and Reiss. And even though she now spends most of her time ensconced in Tennessee with her rocker husband Jack White, Elson has gamely voiced her support for the British retailer’s fashion offer.

“I frequently pop in to John Lewis to get my bed linen but I never thought about buying clothes there before now,” said Elson.

I absolutely love that editorial.:woot: It is fascinating, outsanding, surreal and a whole host of other adjectives that lots of other eds are not.
I haven't seen this before but I'm bloody pleased I've seen it now.:D:D
Alien Sex Friend thank you so much:flower: made my day with this.B)

A few old scans of Karen.

If anyone knows the date of the first Dazed & Confused image, I sure would appreciate knowing. I've always thought it characterized her
early career.

I can't wait to see the John Lewis ad in print. The second pic is really lovely. Thanks so much, Child in time!
