Kate Bogucharskaia, 20

Joe Fresh: Kate, where are you from and how were you discovered?
Kate Bogucharskaia: I’m from a very small village in Russia. I was eighteen and working as a florist and a scout spotted me. He asked if I wanted to be a model and I said no, but after calling me for six months I agreed to meet with him in Moscow, really just because I had never been and wanted to see the city. I realized what a great opportunity it was to travel and see the world, so I signed a contract and have been modeling ever since.
JF: What do you do on your days off?
KB: When I’m not working, I’m usually exploring New York City and going to museums. My favourite is the MoMA. I also love to browse the McNally Jackson bookstore on Prince and Lafayette. I just finished The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut. It was so good.
JF: What are your holiday traditions?
KB: For Christmas, since my family is so far away from me, I usually go somewhere with my friends. Last year, we all went to Amsterdam.
JF: How would you describe your off-duty style?
KB: It depends where I’m going and what I’m doing. If I’m going out in New York, I dress a bit more feminine. But I skateboard around the city, so if I’m on my skateboard I like to wear something more sporty.
JF: I have to ask: what do you like about Joe Fresh?
KB: I have found so many things on this shoot! The jeans fit amazing, the sweaters are so cozy and the hats, scarves and gloves are great for New York winters. I’m going to have to go to the store after this and buy some things!
