Sobaka: What was in the beginning?
Katya: I was graduating school and only worried about exams and future university duties when came to Andy Fiord Models. Still don't understand - how and why! Then my snaps been sent to Milan and.. it twirled. And still is!
Sobaka: What role AFM played in your career?
Katya: Decisive! I appreciate Andy Fiord Models and happy I choose it. Though for the first time I found the director Katya Romanova little bit too strict. Time passed and now we are friends. I hardly imagine what would my career be with another agency. It is a very important choice in every model's fate.
My first Fashion Week was in Milan last fall. It was easy,cool, I mean everything: weather, mood, I recently met my boyfriend.. I took Gucci casting and the next day I got a call from a booker to run run run on a callback. I expected to be The Only One Model there and over 50 girls became a big surprise for me. Anyway, next day I was on my first fitting.
Sobaka: What models are talking about?
Katya: Oh, we are chatting about food and who is feeding better. For instance, Calvin Klein backstage table has a very fusion food: cheeses, huge fruit vases and seafood shashlik. After the Calvin Klein show on February 14th we all got flowers. And Gucci gifted a designer signature bags!
Sobaka: What is making your job difficult?
Katya: Being far away from home is tuff, i miss it. And my boyfriend, family. But I am a lucky person anyway. I am 18 and moving between Paris, Milan and New York. Few weeks ago I been to China on Dior Couture show, I had a business class flight, 5-stars hotel and a personal manager.
Sobaka: You used to work both on runway and shots. What do you like more?
Katya: On the runway I feel this moments of pure fame, is exciting! But after the show I can see only few pics. After the shots I can see really amazing photographs. Last season I was mostly doing shows, but since now you can see me in Alexander McQueen lookbook, See by Chloe and Tommy Hilfiger campaigns. My daydreaming is to become a Victoria's Secret Angel, make a Gucci campaign and become a "talking" Model - my pictures all around the New York city with the words "My eyelashes is so long! Thanks, Maybelline" with my name on a signature below.
Sobaka: Last season you made 47 shows. What was the most remarkable?
Katya: Valentino. I tried all collection on because Karl Templer (Valentino's Stylist) loves me very much. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli are unbelievable, amazing people. And Prada. Every model's dream is to make Prada show. What as for me, I was called an hour before the show, they put the dress on me and took me directly to Miuccia. After her short "Everything is fine" I made a show. I was really nervous and even eat too much before the show.
Sobaka: Do you combine work and study?
Katya: Yep, I am studing on History faculty in a state pedagogical university named after A.I. Herzen. I had my last exam on April. Because during the regular student session I am doing Fashion Weeks.
