Kemp Muhl

And you said nothing about her aesthetic appearance, you merely commented on her taste her "fakeness' and her intellect.

I said I found her answer to be fake, and that it comes off as selfrighteous, I never said that aesthetically I wasn't interested in her. sheesh.

Now can we please stay on topic and just post photos? :order:

ps Sasha I see you reading this thread! Tell me which mag you are in!

Alright. Post photos. But this is a thread about Kemp, and now you are talking about Sasha when you can send her private messages rather than general messages. Im only a young girl trying to defend my sisters image. But that seems like it doesn't matter. Whose to believe me, and whose to care. I guess I just wish people weren't so superficial. I suppose I just wanted people that look at her face everywhere, and see her image, these simple portraits capturing only a moment in time of conciously arranged fabrics and makeup, cared something about the girl inside the picture. Because she means the world to me, and I realize she's nothing but a picture to you. You don't know her, she doesn't effect your life, and in all probability never will. I am sorry for wasting your time with my long message. I didn't mean to sound selfrighteous. I was only concerned.

And please, I ask you not make concrete assumptions around things of which you know nothing, especially if they insist on being derogatory, but rather ask me if you hear something. If I can do anything through this chat board it would be to dispel false suppositions.

Thanks. My point exactly. Not exactly fair to judge someone based on one line of text about things that someone likes.

I'm not around to stir up controversy - I just wanted clarification on Meg's statement as it seemed a little rash to say that Kemp is pretentious because of her reading list.

:flower:

She looks good in the Sisley ad.

Wow. Self-righteous because you love Greek lit? There's a reason why classics are classics - they're highly entertaining while being thought provoking, and were often the popular, for-the-masses works of the day. People who read and understand them generally enjoy them thoroughly. Although I adore books from all genres and time periods and countries, all my very favorite books would fall into the "pretentious" catagory, but I don't really care. *I* like them, books are the most important material thing in the world to me, and I'm not going to pretend I don't like what I do because some people are nitpicky and judgemental. Good for Kemp. If she'd said her favorite books were Harry Potter people would be jumping all over her as being shallow and stupid (probably people who have never actually read Harry Potter, just as it's usually the people who have never actually read "the classics" that go about bemoaning how pretentious it is to read and *gasp* like them).

Eden (lovely name - one of my brothers is named Eden for the character from the Jalna novels), thank you for your time here, and the insights you share with us about Kemp. It is obvious you love her a great deal, and she is very lucky to have you.

I think what meg meant is that it's interesting that the books she listed are all classics and 'heavy reading'. Therefore making it seem like she's really pushing for the intellectual image (you'd think she'd enjoy a bit of mush now and then). Just my 2 cents.

Fair enough, and I apologize for jumping on you, Meg, but this is a pet peeve of mine. It seems so petty when people criticize others' taste in books. I don't care what people read, as long as they're reading. Even if it's an author/style I personally can't imagine even being able to get through.

Virgil's a bit steep at times, but personally, I find Homer to be light mush - The Odyssey was a terrifically fun adventure story. And Euripides? He's like a pulp fiction soap opera most of the time. The classics get a bad rap as being all deep and heavy and boring, when they're really not.

I'd probably list Harry Potter in my list of favorite books, along with the older stuff, and I like to read mindless fluff as much as anyone. But I really dislike the automatic suspicion that Kemp was padding her list to appear more intelligent than she is or something. Especially with her sister here, telling us those are the kinds of books they were raised on. It's like kids who were raised macrobiotic - they really *do* like a "pizza" made with whole wheat crust and grated carrots and squash instead of cheese over the traditional variety. It took me years of being on a "normal" diet to get the appeal. And I still crave umaboshi plum paste balls over jelly beans on Easter  Doesn't mean I think I'm better or more important or healthier than those that just love the jelly beans.

I just like to take people at face value when they say they like or dislike something, or on whether or not they've had plastic surgery, or an eating disorder, or are engaged to whoever. Maybe I'm naive, but it seems like there's enough things to be upset about in the world without going to look for new reasons, like a model's reading habits.

Thank you for the tip about the video :flower:

thank you. This is exactly what I meant. You all accuse me of not having read the books, or being less educated,an immediate conclusion, which you have just gotten angry at me for. I don't mind but I think it makes your argument weaker because clearly you do not care so much for the 'morals' of which you are preaching.

And riverwhispering or "eden" if you care so much about your 'sister' not being taken at a superficial level maybe you should stay away from the modelling industry? just a thought, non?

i couldnt see her in the video? she must have been the other girl but all i saw was susan.

Don't worry, I am not in the modeling industry. And why do you have to be so negative? Everyone forget about this topic; I finished talking to you before, now you had to direct it back.

Yes, the other girl is Kemp with Susan Eldridge....sometimes hard to see, with all the jumping around they do!!!!!

Ali did the Tommy Hilfiger campaign with Kemp for Fall 2003. She said Kemp's one crazy girl and a lot of fun to be around.
