Meggie Kempner imagined her sexy, confident girl on a road trip out of the city, infusing some playful touches into her tight spring lineup: namely motorcycle jackets in metallic leather, fringed and space-dyed knits and bright pops of color throughout. And perhaps not unexpectedly given her affinity for the glamorous era when her grandmother and muse, Nan Kempner, hosted parties for New York’s social elite, there was a slight Seventies vibe to a few of the evening looks, such as a wide-leg red halter jumpsuit and a cutout black handkerchief dress with oversize, circular hardware.
The standout looks, however, featured two contrasting prints at once — as in one long black dress with a pink rose print juxtaposed onto a windowpane pattern. Styled with chokers and ankle boots, they felt right at home in downtown New York.
