Antonio Marras imagined European artists discovering Japan, a fitting gesture toward Kenzo’s heritage. Without obvious references to Japan, the collection distinctly evoked the spirit of a Mediterranean artist in the last century — beret, stripes and espadrilles, of course. There was also a profusion of soft, casual tailoring, including washed three-button blazers and tapered trousers. Allover checks, painterly florals and bursts of imperial red, parrot green and pink coral added boldness without spoiling the show’s quiet, dreamy mood
