Kim's interview with popgoesthenews
“I was like, ‘Yay!’ I was really, really excited,” the 21-year-old told PopGoesTheNews.com on Thursday at Margaritaville in Las Vegas. “It’s probably one of the biggest things. The biggest job you can have.”
Cloutier, a native of Montreal, is one of more than a dozen models featured inside the 2009 Swimsuit Edition, which is on newsstands now. Her photo shoot with
Matt Jones was done at the end of October in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
Her biggest fans are here in Canada. “They’re really happy, really proud,” Cloutier said of her family. “My mom is telling everybody she knows and my dad is the same. He looks at the picture all the time and gets emotional. He’s really happy about it.” So is her 19-year-old brother. “He shows the picture and his friends are like “This is not your sister! Are you kidding me?’ and he’s like, “I’m telling you, it is my sister!’ It’s very sweet. Everybody is so excited.”
Cloutier, who started modeling for the Next agency when she was 15, is only the third Canadian ever to make the Swimsuit Edition – the others are Quebec’s
Ehrinn Cummings and B.C.’s
Rachel Roberts.
She’s been living in New York City for about a year but still loves Montreal. “I don’t really consider that I left,” Cloutier explained. “I try to go back as much as I can because it’s home. All of my family is there and I have very good friends there.”
Cloutier has been busy this week promoting the magazine in New York and Las Vegas (earlier in the day she posed with other models and Vegas mayor
Oscar Goodman in front of the famous "Welcome to fabulous Las Vegas" sign) so she is looking forward to a week-long vacation with her American boyfriend. “I always try to find some place for romance,” she said with a smile.
