I meet Kim in the middle of the morning in an apartment in Paris. It's warm, it's busy and way too early. When I come in Kim is already in make-up and the first thing I notice is the color of her eyes. Kim looks beautiful in a black Acne dress, which I happen to have in red. As it always goes on a shoot, stylists, hair-dressers and photographers run around. We move on to location soon. It doesn't bother Kim, the hecticness seems to go right past her.

How did your career start out?
''I was scouted when I was 16 by Wilma Wakker in thr Kalverstraat. Because I wanted to finish high school I did the first two years quietly. During that time I did walk my first shows for Rochas and later for Marc Jacobs.''

So it came unexpected. What was originally your plan?
''I never thought about becoming a model. It was obvious I was going to college. Medicine. I wanted to become a doctor.''

But now a model, how does that feel?
''Pretty good, or else I wouldn''t have kept on going for so long. Eventually in the Netherlands we have possibilities to do what we want , so I can also quit. Ofcourse I thought I was only going to do this for so long and I still would go to college, but 8 years have passed since then.''

It all sounds so glamurous. The life of a model.
''Glamurous? You find airports glamurous? They're the most horrible places on earth!''

And when you're on location?
''Yes, it's fun then.

And sometimes lonely?
''Yes, definetely. Especially when you're alone in a hotel at night.''

What do you do when you feel lonely?
''Walk around a bit or watch a movie. And a lot of calling.''

Who do you call first?
''My little sister. We are very close. We speak a lot.''

And you're love life?
''Interesting.''

Tell me more.
''I have fun.''

Young love?
''Yes, he comes to Paris tomorrow. I only know him for a few months. I met him through work in New York.''

Is he a photographer?
''No, not yet.''

Ok, assistent photographer then?
''Yes, but I won't tell his name, I want to keep his name a secret for a while.''

You've been on the cover of the biggest magazines, walked the best shows. What would you like to achieve as a model?
''I would still like to do a very spectaculair shoot. With crocodiles perhaps.''

Do you like being on the cover of Dutch L'Offiel?''
''Yes, ofcourse. But when I am posing in a leather bra I do think: My god, my uncle and aunt are going to see this!

Fotoshoots or catwalk?
''Fotoshoot. During fashion week you make crazy hours. You're own time doesn't belong to you. They are crazy weeks.''

Do you go to all the fashion parties?
''No, I usually skip them. I'm not fond of going out. Never did.''

I read your journal about the period when you were dealing with your eating disorder. You went to a clinic when you were guided to gain a few kilo's. How do you look back?
''I came out stronger. I know now how to deal with it.''

Did you get many reactions?
''No, not many really. I think people are scared to bring it up. I hope my story makes a difference within the people who can recognize themselves in my story. But I did it for myself. It helped me.''

What are you going to do when you stop modelling?
''Well, it's too late to study medicine now. Maybe anthropology. I followed some courses last year but it was impossible with work. Maybe I will backpack.''

Where to?
''I don't know. Maybe America.''

With your new boyfriend?
''Let's see how this week in Paris will be.''

Yeah that's what I thought too. I also remember some interview from way back when she said she was too shy to have a boyfriend, it's good to see that she's maybe more confident now.
