Does anyone know? Lena?

I like what I've seen over the years, and all of a sudden I don't hear anything. I just thought of him the other day. Last thing I heard he was launching a men's wear collection.

Is his web site still up? I don't know. Probably financial problems as usual. Last I heard he was based in Munich and designing but like you,the last couple years there hasn't been much said or shown from him. Of course,he was never one that was fully embraced or that recieved alot of attention from the media except perhaps i-D and the like.

Last I heard of him , FAUST , he was designing for NEW YORK INDUSTRIE .

His collections are on ftv , on satellite in Europe .

His menswear line has been out for a while now, I believe it came out back in 2001. And yes, he's now designing for NY Industrie.

What amazes me about that label is how poor their distribution network is, considering it's owned by Diesel, which is sold pretty much where ever water exists on this earth.

i just vague-ly remember that he got a contract with Diesel, at one point not too long ago, Totem was holding his PR thats when I saw one of his very last shows, it was quite interesting but a bit repetitive. A hibrid of the scarve trend which is just turning up strong right now and for ss04

Milan can open weird paths for designers,
almost anyone with talent can 'make it' there
but the price can be dire...

see: Berardi after Milan, MMM following the Diesel deal,
John Ritchmont since located in Milan, Giles Rosier after Milan.

Elbaz was too clever to leave Krizia for Paris.

Milan is very good for its role on mass production,
and mass production is a hungry 'beast'.
Paris is more creative and can still promote
-instead of devour- new designers.

i wish we could see more of Kostas, he's quite sweet, talented
but maybe a bit too shy.

I was flipping through some old mags one day, and came across the fall/winter 2001 issue of FHM collections (I'm not your regular FHM reader, good god no, but their fashion spin-off is ok), where Kostas Murkudis was mentioned in two seperate articles. The first is a piece on New York Industrie, and goes as follows:

Although the Italian line has been around since 1977, Kostas Murkudis has rejuvenated New York Industrie. Subtle silhouettes disgusie elaborate detail in this collection, which defines contemporary elegance dressed with a modern sensibility.
Accompanying the writing is a picture of a model wearing a black wool coat, a VERY nice white striped shirt with a hidden button placket, and pinstripe pants.

His collection was also featured in the mag's coverage of the Paris menswear season, and a leather jacket with an intricate stitching details was featured.
Greek designer Murkudis touches on this season's military influences with his crips tailoring and sharp lines - but does so with a rock'n-roll flair.

I remember how much I've liked both outfits when I first got the magazine. I was expecting big things for him, but too bad I've never seen him being mentioned anywhere else subsequently.

now, Alberto Biani is behind the label founded by himself.

Murkudis has just launched a new line called Haltbar Murkudis.
As well as Haltbar (meaning durable in German), he seems to continue his own collection.

I remember reading that Kostas was born of Greek parents who emigrated to the DDR ( the old East Germany ) where he was brought up and educated - it accounts for the German name of his new venture , and also the fact , I believe , that he started out working for Helmut Lang .

Anyway , the very best of luck to his new venture .

he is Greek and he does speak Greek quite well,
i've met him once some years ago, right after his show in Paris
he seemed very shy but sweet.

he used to be much more popular some years ago

It seems that Haltbar Murkudis is eatablished by Kostas Murkudis
and Kathleen Waibel with the base concept of "not to make short-lived fashion, but clothing in which you feel at home wherever you are."
The collection for next season was shown in a presentation format
alongside Frank Leder.

thank you for the links runner, i really liked the hultbar project (the bowl and the rings are very nice) but Kosta's Hultbar collection was a bit too basic to thrill

strange & sad that on his own website there hasnt been an update since 2001

I am always thankful to you Lena for valuable informaton.

This reminds me of the actual conservativeness of the clothes at stores (especially in men's).
T-shirt I was dying for turned out to be a piece only for runway.
He might be not a little involved in that kind of stream.

But,sometimes there are exceptions like Carol Christian Poell.
Some pieces are enough to thrill.(coat made from human hair, Phallus pants, blood-dyed leather, diaphanous mummified lamb leather, leather-knitted $9000 sweater.....)
I like them but price.
