Kriss Kross – Jump!

Kriss Barupa is a teenage dream; seventeen, beautiful and with that endearing quality of a girl who’s still growing into her long, long limbs. Parents from Latvia, living in London and loving life, Kriss could be Kelly Mittendorf’s sister. She’d be the younger one, with the same high high cheekbones and Pocahontas eyes but slightly softer features. Kriss has been modelling for two years, and her pretty, tomboyish looks have made her a part of the ‘girls will be boys’ craze that swept the AW13 catwalks, as she walked in Christopher Shannon’s menswear show camouflaged in between long-haired boys, in loose shirts and clumpy lace-ups. A new face at IMG, an artist, a photographer and one to watch, we asked Kriss some Q’s while i-D photographer Piczo snapped her up.

How were you discovered? Jane Duval (Finding the Face) scouted me in Brent Cross Shopping Centre when I was 13.

Are you a tomboy? I can be at times yeah.

How did you feel about walking in a menswear show? It was fun working alongside male models and being one of the only girls…!

What would you be doing if you weren’t modelling? Probably focusing more on my art/photography which I still intend to pursue at a later point.

Are you in love? Kind of, in love with life.

What does your bedroom look like? Disorganised chaos, haha like a Virgo.

What’s the best thing about your job? No day is ever the same, you get to meet really fascinating people and I love to travel.

What song can’t you get out of your head? Wake me up before you Go-Go – Wham

Any last words? Give love, receive love.
