LaQuan Smith F/W 2025.26 New York

The angling and post production can’t hide what is a really weak collection. All very dead stock looking.

A look book must mean the funding isn’t there, but frankly he should have started off doing more of them before attempting runways at locations and with courting higher paid runway casting.

it looks like he took every semi-formal option for women over 35 at a mid-range department store and yassified them, and didn't even have the decency to make the final product trashy fun, except for that giant houndstooth coat imo. i feel like with the right styling and a sense of humor someone can make it look kitschy-good at the vma's or something.

i've seen the same at H&M....

I think I’ve finally accepted that LaQuan Smith’s aesthetic just isn’t for me, and he’s unlikely to evolve in the direction I had hoped—which, honestly, is a bit presumptuous of me anyway. I really want to appreciate his work because of his presence in the industry, personality and he's handsome but overall, it just doesn’t resonate. He makes some things here and there that successfully toe the line of taste and vulgarity but overall, he's not elevating in the way I had hoped.

Huge improvement. This needs a runway but his previous shows did not.

He still has quality issues. Like I can see the lining on the first blazer. Im not sure why he chose a very simple cheap way to line it. This is fashion. Maybe LQ doesn’t know other lining techniques.

Lots of gorgeous dresses. That cobalt leather dress is perfectly executed.

LQ needs to hire someone to help him arrange his ideas and focus on his strengths. This is an improvement because he dropped the sheer stretch and has actual wearable clothing.

I don't think they have the money for that. This is his best work so far the color palette is good the blues are wonderful. The shap are there but to be desirable to a different type of woman they have to be very very well made and they are so so.

I like this.
You can clearly see who his customers are.
This woman wants to be supersexy, she is not subtle, and her favourite brand is Balmain.
La Quan has a proposition.
The maxi houndstooth fur, the romantic lavalliere from 2nd look, the t*ts-peekaboo, the crystal embellishments in the last looks... nice.
This season we are giving extra points for not doing pPP (post Phoebe Philo), like half of the houses are doing, Phoebe Philo included.

I need LaQuan apologist @Lola701's comments on this cause it's AWFUL! I love tacky fashion but it really has no soul. I agree with the FashionNova comments.
Ahahah!
This time I can’t save him.
What I like about the Tacky designers is the trajectory. I always use Dsquared2 as an example. The brand wasn’t for me at all. And then overtime, seasons after seasons, I found myself enjoying it and then they had that collection that was menswear inspired where Sasha Pivarova opened and I became a customer.

I think this is tacky but more than that, there’s no evolution in his representation of women or in his designs. There are 3 good moments here, and it’s when the model is dressed but I suspect that even his clientele may aspire to something more.

The tailoring is dated too.

I agree fashion is in such a tight box where did all the fun go. Here it is. She's a party girl. But also he's kind of asking where is the party!
