Hello :)

I'ma young fashion photographer and I've just recived a phone call from LeBook Paris staff to ask me if I would like to be in the next edition of LeBook.

One page it's really expensive and I'm wondering if someone here had the chance to be in it and if it was really worthed.

It's a great way to get some exposure but I'm not sure if it will bring me some work or if it will be just a waist of money.

thank you all :)

yes, it's lebook.com
it's a big catalogue of people working in the fashion industry, like photographers, agents, magazines, advertising agency etc...

it's the official referece guide for who's working in the buisness and it has three edition, in ny, paris and london

the cost it's about 2000 euros for 1 page

it's a big investement and i'd like to know if it's really worthed :(

LeBook - pay for advertising

Remember these are cold calls to sell advertising for their product. The LeBook. For the most part it will not get you more clients. What you will get is a large bill and a tear sheet. If you have excess cash do it - if not add to your studio equipment or your own internal promotion. Paying for a photography business consultant would be smart as a young person.

It definitely is!

I assist with an LA based stylist and she primarily relies on LeBook.

It is definitely a great resource... along side LA 411. I myself have grown accustomed to using it.

thank you for the answers.

I'd really like to know the opinion of people that actually use or are in lebook :)

@stranquistdesign:
I know it's a lot, but I was thinkin that if maybe I can get just only 2 clients thank to lebook, for the adv or catalogue, I will be completly refound and I will also earn something.
What is a buisness consultant?

@buhlack7:
she really use it to find people to work with?
me too I remeber when I was assisting in the studios, a copy of lebook was always avaible for consulting and I think that also advertinsing company will have one

I am not sure of the French tax laws, but I am assuming this would be deductible as an advertising expense. I guess my questions would relate as to how you are currently getting new clients, what is your cost per new client as well as how much retention of clients do you have or what is really your average lifetime revenue stream off of clients. Do you advertise in other trades? How effective is that? Traffic off of a website? Profile on ModelsMahem or other similar industry sites. If this is the bulk of your advertising budget, it may be too single sourced.

i have been in lebook for years...
the only call i ever got from there are people looking for work as assistant stylists...
i think that production companies and studios and agencies usually get ad pages...
because people do look for that...

everyone else just gets a free listing...

Yes. She really does use it. She calls it her bible! But then again, I think stylists use it more often as they are the ones pulling things for a shoot.

But I didn't even know people pay to be in LeBook. The stylist I work for just gets listed.

hmm... good question!

I know the company I work for is always ALWAYS looking for photographers in major cities. Actually, right now, we are looking for a photographer in Berlin. And my photo editor usually uses Model Mayhem or even Craigslist when she is desperate.

But then again we usually work features and very rarely editorials so it's really minimal types of shoots.

I don't have many "paying" clients yet, I do a lots of editorial work, for internationals magazines but I haven't started yet to work on the adv side...
I'm registered to most of all networking website but online you can find contact only for editorial work, for adv is more difficult. Being in the book maybe can get me an exposure to adv companies and agents.
