Day 4. Top 10 Newcomers - NYFW S/S 2014
With the big name shows unveiling their casts for Spring/Summer 2014 the heat is on for the following newcomers to make their mark. At the Natalie Joos Castings for Charlotte Ronson, Osklen, and Karen Walker, a stunning array of familiar faces, rising stars, and brand new faces were in attendance. Standing out from the pack were IMG models Vika Volkute from Lithuania, Dutch veteran Ilse de Boer, and the adorable Hungarian Julietta Fazekas. Volkute has emerged as a key contender in the early stages of the Spring/Summer 2014 season with key note appearances at Hervé Leger, Richard Chai Love, Jen Kao, Lacoste, Tibi, Zimmermann, and Tadashi Shoji. Ethnic diversity on fashion's runways appears to be at the forefront of designers and casting directors minds with a significant presence of Asian and black models at castings. China's Li Wei, Dominican Republic native Marihenny Pasible, and American beauty Asia Matthews were captivating as they presented in front of Natalie Joos and her casting panel. Ford Model Management's Asia Matthews could well be the next Chanel Iman, combining high fashion moxie with a commercial appeal that will appeal to a diverse array of clients. Russian newcomer Kaya Kuznetsova was a beguiling proposition with her strawberry blonde hair and feline-like features while Denmark's Julier Bugge brought an imposing presence with her striking androgyny and athletic 180 cm frame. IMA's favourite face (and personality) of the day belongs to the illuminating comeback sensation Teresa Lourenco. The former Trinidadian supermodel took time off modelling to have her daughter and was recently coaxed back onto fashion's runway in spectacular form for Christian Dior's Fall/Winter 2013 Haute Couture show. Represented by Women Direct, Lourenco appeared at Desigual's Spring/Summer 2014 show looking positively radiant and in prime condition.
