Meet the Model Who Walked the Most Shows at New York Fashion Week

01-ragbone.jpg

Modeling, in many ways, comes down to a numbers game. Sure, a girl can do one key show and make an impact, but the quickest path to glory is putting in the work on multiple catwalks. The most-booked model is typically a versatile beauty capable of transforming to illustrate any designer’s aesthetic—and this season that honor belongs to Lia Pavlova. Walking 23 of New York Fashion Week’s best shows, Pavlova racked up time with everyone from mainstays like Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Narciso Rodriguez, and Oscar de La Renta to newcomer Sies Marjan. Even the celebrity designer set fell for Pavlova’s distinctive look: Rihanna tapped her for Fenty x Puma and Victoria Beckham chose Pavlova to close her Fall show.

Pavlova, a 21-year-old Russian native, made her runway debut at Gucci Fall 2015 and has been walking shows ever since, sometimes alongside her twin sister, Odette, as they did at Fenty x Puma. But the sisters have certainly managed to shine on their own, too—and for Lia, that apparently meant putting in serious overtime and becoming the most-booked model of the New York collections. Not a bad way to kick off fashion month!
