THE FACE OF THE FESTIVAL
Lily Cole stops traffic on Orchard Road

FOR THE first time ever in the history of Singapore, cars stood still for a momentous event in Orchard Road shopping history. No woman has ever done this before, but then again, global supermodel Lily Cole is no ordinary woman.
Tagged as “The Face of the Festival 2006,” Lily is tipped to be one of the hottest and most in demand girls, who has been described as “a British girl who resembles a maiden in a pre-Raphaelite painting” -- her signature look that evokes the freshness and the romance that fashion emanates now.
Super! got the chance to have a little chit-chat a day before her Orchard Road shoot. Backstage during the Ferragamo show, she was pleasantly surprised to know that this writer was from the Philippines. “My best friend in London is Filipina!” she exclaimed.

When asked the cliché questions that puts models under a certain stereotype, she has this to say, “It really is the strange dichotomy with what I do -- that’s why I study and do other things.” A straight-Astudent in secondary school, she plans to study political science in a British University.
Of course, I asked her opinion on Kate Moss’ current predicament. Lily is one of those girls who have been tagged as the “next Kate.” “To be even compared to her is the highest compliment. Fashion loves Kate and for sure she will bounce back,” she said in a nonchalant tone. “When she did those campaigns, she signed her face, as a model. She didn’t sign her life away. She didn’t have to.”
With a face like that (as you can see from all the campaigns she has done) and a mind like that to boot, it comes as no surprise that Lily Cole could cause heavy traffic.

Lily seems like a fairly smart girl, I really like that about her. She´s quite eloquent.

I love her on the cover of i-D...and you're right: she does look better w/ little make-up..

I saw her last nite on FashionFile, and a reporter had asked the models what their favorite books were..and while most hesitated & answered The DaVinci Code or Harry Potter, Lily was quick to answer & answered "Of Mice & Men" by Steinbeck...I love her even more now!

Good for Lily! And I'm just curious - do you know which models answered Harry Potter?
