STARS IN THEIR EYES

LILY COLE, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and footballer Theo Walcott are among the young British stars who have been immortalised for an exhibition, Exceptional Youth, in the National Portrait Gallery that opens tonight. Jenny Dyson, European Editor of Teen Vogue, and photographer Emma Hardy teamed up to find the biggest young British talents to celebrate "individual young people who have all had the strength and determination to realise their ambition". Other stars of the show, which will run until April 8 2007, include 21-year-old rapper and poet Dizzee Rascal, 19-year-old peace activist Iris Andrews and 21-year-old Blaine Harrison of the Mystery Jets rock band. "Young Brits have always featured prominently in the pages of Teen Vogue, be it Orlando Bloom, Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley or London girls whose eccentric spin on style has inspired us," says Amy Astley, editor of Teen Vogue, which is supporting the exhibition. "Exceptional Youth is a project we are proud to embrace as it stands for so much we hope our readers seek out in their own lives: originality, style and reaching for your dreams." Says Jenny herself: "For Amy Astley and Teen Vogue to support young British talent in this way is a huge compliment to us, a nation just a coffee cup in size yet overflowing with brilliance. It is also a brilliant spot of forward thinking on the part of the National Portrait Gallery to have provided such a prestigious platform to champion the youth of today." (November 3 2006, AM)
