Lisa Cant

Lots more to follow from Mango a bit later on, but I couldn't set things aside without a shot of Folio's Lisa Cant, who was flown in to open and close the show.

Here's a recent interview that was brought to our attention by the author:

Model Interview: Lisa Cant

by Jennifer McWhirter on November 1, 2008

Lisa Cant is a world-famous model who’s quiet confidence, hard work, and modern beauty have carried her to incredible heights of success. She has worked for such influential designers and clients as: Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabana, Juicy Couture, Anna Sui, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Belanciaga, Miu Miu, Givenchy, Christine Dior, Pink Tartan, and Carolina Herrera. She has appeared on magazines such as Vogue, W, and Flare and has been photographed by photographers like Steven Meisel and Annie Leibovitz. The Canadian-born model is known for her down-to-earth, sweet personality. She currently lives in New York, where she is continuing her mega-successful modelling career and attending the prestigious Columbia University.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST BEAUTY TIP?
Get enough sleep! We all look better with lots of it.
HOW DO YOU KEEP A FIT AND HEALTHY BODY?
I’m not rigid about health, diet, or exercise. I do yoga and I have a pretty normal, healthy diet. The key is everything in moderation.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
It’s pretty simple. I don’t like a lot of ornate or flashy things. I like really nice, quality pieces in basic colours that I can mix and match.

HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN A HEALTHY SENSE OF SELF-ESTEEM AND POSITIVE BODY-IMAGE?
You can’t let negativity about image affect you – there is always going to be someone who is curvier and someone who is skinnier. It can be hard sometimes, of course, to always be positive. You just have to keep reminding yourself over and over again in your head “I’m happy the way I am.”
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE CITY TO TRAVEL TO AND WHY? WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRAVEL TO NEXT?
Besides New York, where I live, I would say Paris. Paris is the most beautiful city I’ve ever been to. Plus the work there as a model is always something special. It is never a photo shoot against a blank white wall.
I’ve been to Asia, Canada, Western Europe, and Africa twice (South Africa and Egypt). I have a friend moving to Africa — Ghana, actually — so maybe somewhere like that.
WHAT MOTIVATES OR INSPIRES YOU TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS?
My parents. They push me to do more intellectual things. Modelling-wise — myself!
IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND AND COULD ONLY HAVE ON BEAUTY PRODUCT AND ONE FASHION ITEM WITH YOU WHAT WOULD THEY BE AND WHY?
Mascara - I love it and I look 100 times better with it on! For a fashion item, I would bring a slip or t-shirt dress in a soft fabric because that seems like the most practical, comfortable thing to wear on a desert island!

Lisa Cant is represented by Images (Mother Agent), Trump (New York), Folio (Montreal), Marilyn (Paris), d-Management (Milan), Take Two (London), Mega Model Agency (Hamburg).
AAFM was so pleased and excited to get to interview Lisa as part of a larger (and top-secret!) project that we just had to share this portion of our chat right away!
Thank you, Lisa!
