Snowdon went to school with friend and supermodel Naomi Campbell, and worked briefly as a waitress. She was spotted by a Premier Model Management agent at age 19 while dancing in a London nightclub.
Snowdon began modelling for cover shots with Marie Claire, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Eve, Company Magazine etc., which led to her becoming a full time top fashion model. In turn, fashion modelling led to her becoming a more recognised model and doing fashion campaigns and spreads for Vogue, Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan. Then Snowdon attracted major attention appearing in an advertisement for Special K cereal. Now she is best known for her beauty commercials and lingerie modelling. She went on to be the "elevator girl" for Lynx deodorant in 2003, doing advertisements for Mercedes-Benz, Martini, Dove soap, and becoming the face of Neutrogena and numerous high-fashion catalogues. She has featured on FHM's List of 100 Sexiest Women every year between 1996 and 2007 except for 1998.
A 1997 album, Spell It Out, failed to sell, and a starring role in Channel 4's short film Man's Best Friend did not perform much better. However, Snowdon's look has made her an eye-catching presenter, including FightBox on BBC Three with Trevor Nelson, MTV UK's Select, Top of the Pops, The Big Breakfast, BBC Radio 1's One Big Sunday, Miss World 2004, GMTV, Spring Break Live, V2003, CD:UK, LA Pool party and various ITV Movie premiere shows. On August 20, 2007 she guest presented on Channel 4's tea time show Richard & Judy along with star of Little Britain, David Walliams, whilst regular presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan were away at the funeral of Manchester icon Tony Wilson.
In 2005 Snowdon became an ambassador for the breast cancer care charity.
Snowdon had a short fling with Brandon Boyd (the lead singer of American alternative band Incubus) and is also well known for being the former girlfriend of George Clooney.
In the book "Inside Little Britain", David Walliams refers to a woman he fell in love with as "Miss X", who was later revealed in the media to be Lisa Snowdon.
