I am so happy for her! She has to be the top high fashion model currently right? She and Saskia de Brauw are the best models to emerge from the early 2010s era. Liu Wen’s skills at modeling are so much better than Jenner, Hadids and Gerber combined lol. People like Saskia and Liu are true high fashion models who create art and meaning with their skills and presence there is something so soulful about them that real comes thru in pictures that the insta girls unfortunately lack in their work

The Marie Claire China pics are extremely nice... i think its her best, she should work with this team more..
the topless photo with bangles and the face close up with flowers are exceptional

^ Wen would be if she has the covers to back it up.

Don't like being that person but for me Liu Wen is more of a late 2000s model (she was already a star in the making in 2008 hence a very good SS09 campaign season for a newcomer, and her runway records). But true it was 2010 that catapulted her as the Great that she is today starting with Estee Lauder and Calvin Klein, and outpouring support from Vogue US and everyone else subsequently, and then all the accolades and recognition of that decade.

Surely you or anyone may already know that, therefore sorry, but for newer folks and fans should know that she was already that It Girl in the late 2000s, just blossoming at the right time prepared to lead the next generation of top models for years to come.

With that said, not surprising that people still think she was a 2010s model. It does make sense too (a la the 90s Supers). Not entirely wrong. :flower:

Some inkling thinks she’s abroad somewhere… perhaps the US for NYFW?

Agreed. It’s the usual formula in the studio but for me this is her best output for Marie Claire China with Sept 2023 a close second (by Nick too). Some unnecessary cover selections and some images could do without. Overall some stunning work. I too gravitated to the facial flower shot.

She’s generally not a Tim Walker type of model, but here I see more potential in that area of storytelling, styling, set and mood.

Don’t know which cover to get – so many to choose!

To dispel this “conspiracy” that Rocco and the Vogue China’s team intentionally sidelined Liu Wen from partaking in VC 20th Anniversary, thought it’d be helpful to share her known schedule:

May ~28 – unknown work (Milan)
June 15-19 – unknown work (Paris)
June 29 – L’Oreal activity (Harbin)
July 9 – Balenciaga HC (Paris)
July 11 – W China Paul Wetherell cover shoot (Paris)
July 23-27 – vacation (Yongzhou)
July 28 & 29 – Vogue China 20th cover shoot (Shanghai)
July 29 – Gilles Dufour Erdos Exhibition (Beijing)
July 31 – Marie Claire China Liu Song *and maybe Nick Yang* cover shoot (Beijing)
Aug 8 – Peak Performance activity (Dunhuang)
Aug 11 – W China Nadine Ijewere cover shoot (Beijing)
Aug 19 – W China Gala (Shanghai)
Aug 23 – Chanel Jewelry Launch (Shanghai)

From an insider, it’s confirmed that Liu Wen amicably declined to be a part of VC20 – we don’t know that reason (or at least I’m not aware of). My guess it was simply a conflict of schedule. We know that she returned to Beijing on the 27th; VC20 took place for the next couple of days in Shanghai; presumably Liu Wen was preparing on the 28th for next day’s event; she attended Gilles x Erdos on the 29th

With all things considered, of course it’d have been nice to see Liu Wen on the issue but impossible to be in two places at the same time.

Wen is pretty much obligated to show support for Gilles and Erdos – she’s the brand’s main face for the past 15+ years. Makes total sense.

It’s okay. She was gonna shoot Marie Claire and honestly, it was a thoughtful gesture from MC to have Liu Wen on another Sept cover – this was more personal as it was to commemorate Wen’s history with the magazine as she worked with them first and had a solo cover early on too. Both parties exchanged lovely words for their longstanding collaboration from 2006 to present. In a sense, Liu Wen made the right choice for her. It was her decision. 👌

Whoops. Apparently she’s still in China.

🚨 There will be a big surprise or two waiting for October (if not sooner). No further details. Could it be Zara or a cover or another campaign. Definitely something. Don’t think it was referring to Pop…

Fashion month is here and love predicting where she’d walk. This season is a bit cautionary coming off from FW25, so only confident in a few. And the change of CDs and their head of casting… Lange, Grimes are a bit iffy.

Clean slate at Dior could this be the biggest surprise/get of the season. Looking forward to when Liu Wen returns to the brand after a long, massive drought. Hope Jonathan/Ashley cast big names too. Sprinkle them somewhere.

Of course Chanel and Matthieu. Will be happy if she’s there for the first collection.

NEW YORK
Calvin Klein

LONDON
Burberry

MILAN
Bottega Veneta ?? (casting by Lange or Mejean)
Giorgio Armani
Jil Sander ??? (casting by Grimes, maybe)
Prada ? (casting by Brokaw)
Versace ?? (casting by Lange, maybe)

PARIS
Balenciaga ?? (casting by Pilotti, maybe)
Chanel (casting by Bitton or Duclos…)
Dior ??? (casting by Brokaw)
Givenchy (casting by Hallett)
Loewe ? (casting by Brokaw, likely)
Saint Laurent (casting by PG)
Schiaparelli (casting by PG)
The Row (casting by Brokaw)

Anyone has their predicted list?

^ Correction, Scheinman cast YSL; and will it be a one-off or will she be a staple at Tom Ford…

Burberry FW25 campaign has been out for weeks and not sure where this insistence of Liu Wen x Burberry is coming from. Were they referring to the promotional image below, or there’s gonna be a bag campaign, or a side project with Burberry that may be released later.

Burberry sponsored/partnered with the T China event that she attended a few days ago. If Liu Wen is present at this event, there could be something more with her and the brand (or her invite was on behalf of T China instead?)… only thing is that she’s wearing Saint Laurent.

IDK. It’s whatever. Burberry or not. Right or wrong. Moving on.
