the cover is indeed boring.
i bought it this w-e. i was EXTREMELY surprised. not saying this is 100% perfect and creative and original, but the heart is quite here.
its my 1st cover so i was surprised they kept the same sections, but transformed them very much so it does look very fresh.
they are also part of that team who use recycled paper (for editorials, and some texts). which is good!!
the news and texts are appealing to me. with contribution of Eric Troncy (one of the best french art critic), Glenn O'Brien. there are english translations for the texts - which is new, nan?
alex by richard kern (a "polish girl")
a sort of ny hiphop early 80s style editorial by magnus unnar and tom guiness (st)
a punk-chic military style by matthew williams and tom guiness (st) - evening wear mainly
scenes de la vie conjugale (married life instants) is about various options of daywear (and a few evening), with a woman and some men (base for everyshot) from Acne design team.
very casual and nice styling.
then comes a very techno and evening wear editorial dedicated to Andre (the AD of OH).
sincerely it is NOT my cup of tea AT ALL. 2 male models pose oddly and behind them theres a sort of monochrome techno op-art drawing, which decomposes, too, the body of a man/woman (so theres again outfits or things to look @ and that arent of good composition). in the middle of that story, therere 2 portraits with Andre symbol over his head. very religious and tale-ish. it ends like that too. its really hard to look at.
then theres a olympia le tan story with her bags and friends remaking stills from olympia's favorite movies.
in general its worth buy it....
Andre seems to be a right choice. i just wish it werent that friendly and egocentric. being an creative/art/magazine director doesnt mean you have to promote yourself. but ive been pretty surprised.
