Looking For A Nice "starter" Bag

I like Miu Miu myself but the nicer bags are always over 400 :( I didn't really like the Fendi bag.. but when I saw it on the website it actually looks pretty nice carried.

Another question I have is.. which brand has the best quality leather?

Thanks!
out of the ones listed in the poll, I say MIU MIU.
the leather of my MIU MIU bags are just beautifully soft and supple

OK.. here are the bags that I'm considering:

I just never like MJ bags, they look cheap to me and the hardware is tacky IMO.
however, I hate to say it but that MJ one looks the best among those :ninja:

Thank you everyone for your advice, I'll keep them in mind :)

What other bags within my price range would you recommend?

why not try cole haan..this ones only 195

My advice to you would be to skip on the cheap-looking Coach and Marc bags. Instead, you might want to start frequenting local vintage (not THRIFT) shops in your area. For $300, you could find a beautiful, high-quality leather handbag (possibly from Chanel or vintage LV) that would be a much better investment than a trendy Marc bag that will fall apart at the seams in a year's time. Obviously, you won't find a $5500 Vuitton Theda bag for $150, but you can certainly find style and quality in your price range. That might mean a no-name Italian handbag from the 70's with incredible detail and flair. Or an 80's chain-handled Chanel tote. Either way, I think it's much smarter than blowing money at Scoop on something that just won't measure up.

Whatever label, vintage or recent, eBay is the obvious answer.

Enough said.

Oh and if you're looking for something that's versatile and durable - I suggest taking a look at Gucci's black nylon bags, a material they call "Parana". Some of the best designs are from several years ago, but the material is still a staple in their latest collections. The combination of chrome hardware, polished leather, and utilitarin nylon is chic, understated, and virtually indestructible. I mean, I've thrown some of those bags under hot running water for a good wash, and they're still in perfect shape. :ninja:

I've seen some really nice vintage bags on ebay... but theres just one tiny problem .. I don't really like second-hand goods (besides books) :ninja: I'm weird like that  And I'm afraid of buying something expensive on ebay for fear of getting ripped off... so.. I don't know. I'm still contemplating what to get.

I think Coach is the best. All of their things are much cheaper than all the other popular designers, even their shoes so you could get a nice pair of shoes to match your bag as well :)

yeah, look at cole haans. i was skeptical but there r some pretty nice ones on there. i like the alexa satchel and alexa roll bag and the alexa clutch

i would get something leather. just because leather no matter what will last longer than any fabric or coated canvas you can get. plus it ages well. fabric snags and coated canvas sometimes cracks.

kate spades aren't bad. too simple for my taste though

i saw the lambertson truex camden boxcar bag but i think its a bit too expensive for a starter.

ooh get a YSL Mombasa. i like those so much, but i know those are either love it or hate its

I LOVE the first miu miu you posted (the slightly slouchy white one). I'm almost afraid to ask but how much is it and is there a site where you could buy it?

I am not sure it matters but my first "designer" bag was a Coach soft Demi which I still love. It's high quality, relatively cheap and durable (which for me is very important)
