I do find it strange that she tends to go on holiday and hang out with her dad, but rarely if ever with her mum.

That's because her mom's been on tour for the past 3 years.She gave concerts not only in France,but also all over Europe and in New-York,Australia,Israel....J.Birkin's only taken a few breaks from touring to shoot a movie,then record an new album and then promote it.
Of course,she's reunited her 3 daughters and their kids to spend some quamity time with her in the Manor she owns in Brittany (east of France).The place is huge and Jane really enjoys having her whole family and best friend english photographer Gabrielle Crawford around in summer.
Also,Lou's lived in the west indies with her dad for a year after her parents spitted up.(Back in 1992,Jane was touring a lot,singing Serge Gainsbourg' songs and trying to make his work known In Europe-especially in England where he was totally unkown at that time).

Perhaps going on holdiday in the french carribbean with her dad (along with his new wife and younger daughter lily) and her son reminds her of happy times in her childhood....Plus its a sunny & relaxing place to be !

She was in St Barth with her son,Thomas-John (her son's father),and his dad.
This time it was Lou and the Mitchell family that were in the French Caribean !

I find it strange how she looks so petite in some pictures and then so long and lanky in others. She's so endearing. In those last beach pictures she looked like a tall child, just galloping around like that.
