Ludovic de Saint Sernin F/W 2024.25 New York

I'm somehow not surprised at all that the quality still hasn't entered the chat, after all those long years of Ludovic's presence and support of his insta squad. That said, some of the pieces are 100% ridiculous, especially when you're aware of the fact they were targeted at specific demographics. At least the brand has found its place in New York this season, that's way more fitting than Paris.

this is his style and he’s clearly sticking to it so kudos to him.
there are some nice pieces and I do think he did well in presenting at NYFW.

sensuality and sexiness are in such a wide spectrum and his seems to float in one (several) spheres of it.
and I’m sure it caters to a lot of other people.

LDSS is one of those brands that makes me wonder if I'm going crazy, or if I'm just old, b/c he has such a rabid following, and I simply don't get any of it. It's so cringe. All of them looked like they were in some Gen-Z neo-Manson cult (but like a second-rate version of that).
you're definitely not crazy or old, im in my mid 20's and i cant stand this brand lol. LdSS work is downright awful but he is very social media savvy, so ofc every twink with a PhD in pinterest/instagram scrolling will eat up his glittery jockstraps.

he had the privilege of working with the mapplethorpe foundation and all he could produce was this sexless parade of wonky bdsm gear lmao thats just nasty work and a testament to his very VERY limited skill set

I very much agree with most of the comments here.

And to add, LdSS is consistent with the impression that he only makes clothes for the sole purpose of 'Insta-gratification.' I don't see any value in terms of design, which is why I couldn't take him seriously. It's like his collections are only made with an objective to go 'viral' which is cringe.

In the words of the Instagram gays, 'he thought he ate'

^^^ Depending on who you ask, he absolutely did! And truth be told, the sweaty/wet/steamy “I’m A Slave 4 U” Brittany look is an impressive statement in this era of DEI casting.

He knows he has very limited design talent, and always invested cleverly, strategically, strongly in the look, the very elite casting, that’s always carried his flimsy design talent. Along with the MU, hair and footwear, it’s the only attractions to watch his shows. He knows his strengths, I’ll give him that! (…Then he ruins it all by sashaying out LMFAO)

My issue with LdSS (and lots of his peers) is that his approach to sexuality is solely physical, making the result very cold. Look at Gucci by Tom Ford, where sheer fabrics, logoed thongs and bare breasts were in abundance, but his fully covered suits still exuded that same level of sexuality.

You are literally throwing pearls before swine by expecting him and his customer to reach beyond the superficial. And we are eye-deep in the era of the swiniest of swine.

Coping Tom Ford’s Gucci look of the double-G--string look is the most effort you’ll get out of this person LOL To put in the effort of suiting is too much to expect of him. Suiting is where the true test of a mere faSHON designer ends and where a masterclass fashion designer begins. And frankly, why would/should he bother with any whiff of a nuanced sensuality when the customer that’s drawn to his fetishwear masquerading as high fashion wouldn’t care for it anyway? That he’s bothered to include a handful of dramatic coats and jackets is more than I expected from him. And in this most shallowest of any fashion era— as if fashion isn’t shallow enough already, to namedrop Mapplethorpe is more than enough give him showing the status of aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhrt.

Looks like a Mattel BDSM line for Barbie. He thinks he is a tough man...but he is still just a naïve child.

The only good thing about it was Angelina Kendall. She looked amaaaazing!

I have nothing to add to the chorus of negative comments. It’s indeed a very flat collection. Perhaps what i kind of enjoy is the Zoolander level of self belief this guy has, its almost admirable.

If he wants his brand to be substantial outside it’s 15 minutes in the spotlight, he will need to invest in either its craft or the scale of its operations like jacquemus.
