Model Lulu has served as one of Raf Simons’s go-to girls ever since he took over the head design job at Calvin Klein last year. She’s a face for the new Raf-a-fied brand and as such, she was recently granted a very cool, off-runway opportunity. Lulu was cast alongside Millie Bobby Brown, Paris Jackson, and Ashton Sanders in a music video for the new song “I Dare You” by indie electro band the xx. The music trio, which is made up of Jamie Smith, Romy Madley Croft, and Oliver Sim, teamed up with longtime fans Simons and director and photographer Alasdair McLellan on the wardrobe and artistic direction of the video. Shot in Los Angeles, the narrative revolves around a younger and older sister (Brown and Lulu) and a couple (Sanders and Jackson) who test one another in a series of dares.
The Calvin Klein logo pops up on a sports bra worn by Jackson and there are hints of pieces from Simons’s Fall 2017 collection for the label. The whole thing comes laced with a heavy all-American feel. As Lulu explains of the vibe on set, “Everyone was really open and friendly, very welcoming. I also got to wear my own jewelry, so I felt comfortable—I would definitely wear that outfit in my everyday life.” Lulu also says that she “was a bit nervous before meeting the cast because I know their work and I respect them. They were all so down to earth and awesome.”

“I love to travel, so I was very happy to go to L.A. for this shoot. This was when we were driving to set for the first day of filming.”

“We shot the last still for the video on Mulholland Drive. I was excited because I had just seen the David Lynch movie Mulholland Drive.”

“I had so much fun working with Millie. Here we are waiting for our morning hair and makeup.”

“I loved working with Alasdair. Here he is shooting a scene where we were driving this vintage car around the streets of L.A. The car was great looking, but very hard to drive!”

“On the steps of the Frank Lloyd Wright Sowden House, which was so incredible. It looked like an old movie set.”
