She's my favorite music artist out there. Her songs are soooooo good.

Oh snap, she can't quit! I'm hoping that she'll un-retire like many artists have. I finally listened to Kala all the way through, and I'm amazed at how much more intense her lyrics have become. $20 has a great beat and seems like a fun song, but really listening to it opens your eyes. It's my favorite track and I've imagined a whole music video for it. xr2 is also great and Paper Planes is brilliant in it's awkwardness it makes me feel at the chours lyrics and sound effects.

Wow, no. Originally she was interested in filming documentaries; perhaps she wants to take the director's seat? Still, who doesn't want a new album?! She could become a producer; plenty of artists (ie., their production teams) have allegedly ripped off M.I.A. already. (Fergie, Gwen Stefani...) :lol: That wouldn't be quitting music, though...

I don't understand why she could not be like Karl Lagerfeld and do multiple things and let the music fund her other things. I did not so much like her first album, but second is so good! Very weird for her to stop when she just starts! :blink:
 
maybe she's intimidated by how well received Kala has been and feels overhyped? i don't know. very disappointing and strange, considering that she's been around for a few years and is finally getting the success she deserves. perhaps she likes being more hush hush.

If she admits that her heart's not in it anymore, then I understand...
It would be boring if she felt some sort of pressure to release an album each year just to please her fans.
