I love red, but I also recognise that bright red can be 'cheating', in that the absolute vibrancy of the colour can add an energy that isn't really there without it.

Someone can pose in the most lifeless of ways, but if they're head-to-toe in scarlet or vermillion, the colour acts as a shorthand for excitement, without having to do much else in the image.

Thank you for posting as ever Zorka. Mods, I do wonder if this thread shouldn't (ultimately) be merged and therefore archived on the M Le Monde thread, given that the discussion on this issue was started there? Although I know that we often start new threads for individual fashion issues of newspaper supplements.

At any rate Emmanuelle's red styling saves "Le Rouge et Le Soir" in some images, but I still feel Seklaoui's photography is too basic, especially for the fashion issue. A more experienced model than Angelina may have also helped here.

Galiegue's story would benefit from models who are less...fresh. However I just love the tones and colours in his imagery. The shots that reference Turbeville's bathhouse series work best, although my favourite is probably the Alaïa one (?) which is quite monastic.

I love both fashion stories. I love the red theme in the story by Seklaoui. The fashion story by Galiegue is simply amazing.
