Maggie is now a mother!

Model Maggie Rizer has given birth to her first child; a son named Alexander Rafahi Mehran III. Born on Wednesday near San Francisco, the new arrival will be known as Zander.

"Zander was born at 5:30pm near San Francisco, weighing 7lbs 13 oz," Rizer said. "He has 10 fingers, 10 toes, sandy hair, deep blue eyes and is practically perfect, in every possible way!"

Rizer has talked in the past about her own turbulent family life: her father died of AIDS - which she has since campaigned to raise awareness of - when she was just 14; and in 2004 her stepfather plead guilty to stealing $7 million from her after being placed in charge of her finances. Fortunately, happier times have followed: she married businessman Alex Mehranin in September 2010, and Zander is the couple's first child.

"Alex and I are very proud parents and incredibly excited to get to know our new little lad," she added on her blog. "We feel tremendously blessed this Thanksgiving!"
