NEW YORK — Maja Salamon has walked the runway for every Louis Vuitton collection designed by Nicolas Ghesquière since he took the helm at the storied French house in late 2013, but the Polish beauty’s history with him goes back even further. Maja in fact made her runway debut during the Spring 2012 season with an exclusive for Balenciaga during Ghesquière’s tenure. Maja opened that show and ever since has pretty much been a fixture on the runway for the celebrated French designer. “I met [Ghesquière] a long time ago when he still worked at Balenciaga…he’s like my first person.” The relationship is not difficult to understand, especially considering Maja’s lithe physique that is equal parts graceful and athletic, which is Ghesquière through and through. This commitment to maintaining a flawless body is not only something Maja does professionally, but in fact embraces personally as evidenced in her running of the Orlen Warsaw Marathon (her first) in late April in her native Poland. Running aside, she’s a bit mad for the tennis and has been following Roland Garros (her favorite of the Grand Slams) every available minute this year after having attended the men’s singles final in 2014 when Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic in four sets. Whether on the runway or running all the way, Maja’s passion is singular and part of what makes her a perennial favorite amongst clients and followers alike.
