Manon Von Gerkan shows off a standard jet-setting supermodel resume, doing fashion shows for Donna Karan and Moschino, and advertising campaigns for L'Oral and Victoria's Secret. She has been featured in Vogue, Elle and Sports Illustrated as well. Of late, however, it is her relationship with urban magician David Blaine that has garnered the most attention. The fashion-savvy everywhere will be impressed with Manon Von Gerkan's list of jobs. After getting noticed by a top scout in her native Hamburg, Germany, she soon moved to the United States to get her career started. Magazines like Elle, Cosmopolitan and Vogue first picked her up, and then her stock rose further when she was added to the lineup of Sport's Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue in 1996.
Advertising campaigns soon followed, with Chanel, Victoria's Secret and L'Oral signing her to deals. Throughout this time, she was a fixture at ready-to-wear fashion shows for Moschino, Barbara Bui and Salvatore Ferragamo. Similar work continues, but now Von Gerkan concentrates on her vintage jewelry store in New York as much as her modeling. She even had a small part in the film Shallow Hal to boot.
