Martin Grant Fall/Winter 2005, Paris

this must be the dress Andre thought as grey ^_^

Martin is one of my fave designers, was lucky to see his first show in Paris few seasons ago and just loved his cuts, his sober style, his perfectly executed ideas.
This season is no exception, he's really worth all the attention he can get.
He's an 'old fashion' maitre , so closer to couture than to pret-a-porter which -in my book- can be absolutely modern.

Quite surprised to learn that he finally got offered -AND turned down- the Givenchy chair.. thats my Martin

It is refreshing to see these designers who seem to be separate from trends all together: not setting them or influenced by them. You want martin grant's clothes simply because they are work of art. When I am out looking for new items to add to my collection I look for a very specific thing. I want to see that I am getting some designers unique vision and I want to see that they took pride and skill in making this vision reality. I am not rich so I have to be very selective in what I buy. When I was out shopping and saw all the full skirts, vintage inspired tops and various other flashy items, I turned them all down for an understated black martin grant jacket.
